When we found out about the 4th Annual Blues, Views, & BBQ festival going on September 23-25, we squealed with delight. Pig joke #1, check. This awesome festival will be taking place on the grounds of The Levitt Pavilion and the Westport Public Library. Add it to your calendar by clicking on our Events section up above and finding the festival or just bookmark this because there’s so much to explore, see, drink, and eat over the three days of this fest. Let’s pig out (joke two):
• Kansas City Barbecue Society “Competitor Series” cooking contest on 9/24 to benefit the Westport Food Closet. Contestants arrive from 6-10 am to set up and the chefs start bringing in chicken, pork rib, chef’s choice dish, and dessert to the judges at 2 pm. You know two of the judges this year…that’s right. OmNomCT, Kristien and Danny, are judges. Oooh yeah, say hi! ;)
• Kids Q contest with burgers, dogs, and chef’s choice.
• Pig races. Do we really need to pimp this? Awwwwww.
• 12 different bands, with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes kicking things off on Friday, 9/23.
• Pie and rib eating contest (be sure to register)
• Food! Look at all these options:
• Winnie’s Jerk Chicken & Fish
• Blue Lemon Restaurant – Burgers, Roasted Sweet Corn, and Sausage Sandwiches • Dave & Jerry’s Hot Dog Trolley
• The Smilin’ Chef- Gyros and Baja Tacos
• Wild Bill’s Olde Fashioned Soda • Michele’s Pies
• Rolling Cones Ice Cream • Boy Scouts of America Popcorn
• Tito’s Vodka • Jim Beam Global Products• Newman’s Own Wines • Poland Spring Water• Steaz Organic Tea • Newman’s Own Limeade and Lemonade
• Leave as many pig-related comments as you can. Let’s bust this post up to
at least 100 pig jokes.

I have to say….I went two years ago and was really disappointed. Tons of great BBQ chefs cookin up a storm and no opportunity to sample the wares. Hopefully they’ve changed the approach. At least you guys know you’ll have a chance to taste!
We’ve never been, so we have nothing to compare it to, but it seems just awesome. Is the main reason that you’re disappointed because you couldn’t taste the food from the chef’s challenge? That’s got to be the hardest part of events like this: watching all the action go down and smelling the smells and just letting your mouth water with no hope of tasting the heavenly bbq. Sorry, not trying to rub (spice, that is) it in. By the way, where was your pig joke? We need one? :)
This is pretty late to reply – but it is against the Health Dept rules to allow tastes…however…if you hang by the judges tent, you can definitely snag some yummy bites!
There is always BBQ available to purchase.
This year’s Fest is earlier – Labor Day. Don’t miss it!
We can’t wait for this year’s Blues, Views, & BBQ! :) It’s gonna be tons of fun. :) Rock it.
Do you know how much food each team needs to make for the backyard chefs competition? The website is vague.
Oh, yeah, and this festival is going to be “sooey-t”…
hahahahah, yes. Nice one. I hadn’t thought of that one ;) You got some major funny chops on ya. hahahah Chops! Aw, that’s kind of sad, too. :(
I’m not sure about how much they’re going to make or how many judges there will be. All I know is that they better have enough for me and Kristien to try in the judge’s booth. ;)
sounds real good – think i will go
Doesn’t it sound amazing? I don’t think I’ve ever been to a festival that’s this cool! :)
So, whitemist, where’s your pig joke? C’mon.
