Stamford Event Aims for You to Take Off Your Clothes and Make a Difference

9 Oct
Why you wearing all those clothes?  Yo…Stamford, Take Off Your Clothes!  As attractive as all our readers are, actually following this advice at UConn Stamford might get you some jail time.  Think of it as a metaphorical shedding of your clothes for Person-to-Person‘s first family event on 10/20 from 11 to 3 pm.  P2P is inviting all Stamford citizens and families to take part in the fun.
Now, because we’re writing about this, you know there has to be some food involved.  Yeah, we’re so predictable, huh? First off, check out some gourmet grilled cheese from everybody’s favorite, Melt Mobile, or your own little Italian cafe in the form of the Caffe Bon food truck.  Next, you’ll have the 2012 Stamford Museum & Nature Center Maple Sugar Festival Chef’s Challenge winner:  David’s Soundview Catering.  Finally, check out two of Stamford’s best restaurants, shelling out burgers and Italian food for you:  Station Eats and Bar Rosso.
In addition, Jolana Smith from STAR 99.9 will be on hand and will emcee this great event.  When you make a donation, you’ll get a raffle ticket to win an iPad, a signed tie from Donald Trump (awesome), or even free passes to Chelsea Piers.  Here are some of the donations that will help out Person-to-Person serve more than 21, 000 (stats from 2011) Lower Fairfield County residents:
  • Clean, gently-used, seasonally-appropriate clothing  and outwear for men, women, teenagers, children and infants;
  • New or gently used accessories such as footwear, scarves, gloves, hats, ties, handbags, briefcases, backpacks and belts
  • New or gently used socks and pajamas for children

Whoever you are:  a person, a couple, a family, a company, a school, a restaurant, or a group, P2P needs your help!  Did you know that last year they gave away over 50,000 bags of clothing.  Bags, not even pieces!  You could imagine that as the days get shorter and colder, people need to stay warmer and warmer.  Check StamfordTakeOffYourClothes.org for more info on the event and if you’d like to make your own donations, but can’t attend check out www.p2pdarien.org.

Stay warm, friends.  Winter’s on the way.
