We’ll just cut to the chase here, no flowery language, no extended metaphors, no crazy stories: Bob LeRose of Bobby Q’s and Bar Q is one of our most favoriterest people in the world! When Dan couldn’t finish the Pitmaster Platter, he offered to give him a shirt. He has allowed us to be judges at Blues, Views, & BBQ for two years in a row. And, frankly folks, he’s a class act. So, when we found out that he was the brains and brawn behind Biergarten on the Green on 10/27 from 1-4, one of the events of the Downtown Westport Foodie Fest, we knew that we had to help spread the word.
You’ll get an oh so cute tasting mug, a fancy box lunch filled with sausage, pretzels, and other German goodies, and lots of beer to taste. All of this for $35 online or $40 the day of the event. But, we’ve got a special deal for you from our friends at BEVBUCKS (see our intro to them). You’ll pay just $27.50 when you purchase your ticket here. Quite a nice deal, huh?
Also on hand will be Ian Knauer, who spent a year working on a farm and wrote a book (and will soon have a PBS show) about his hunting, fishing, and foraging called The Farm, Rustic Recipes for a year of Incredible Food. He’ll be co-hosting this great Westport event. Ian will actually be preparing Wheat Beer chicken with orange and coriander, two of the big flavors in Shock Top. He won’t stop there, though because he’s preparing stout cake and other great food using farm fresh ingredients. Also worthy of you checking out is the Shock Top Beer Beetle that doubles as a keg. Yup, tap that bad boy’s hood and you’ve got some Shock Top, ready to go. More brews on tap include brews from Unibroue, Southern Tier, Sierra Nevada, Otter Creek, Oskar Blues, Merchant du Vin, and The Weed Company of Milford, CT.
Something else great about Biergarten on the Green will be the music of The Zany Oompah Band, playing polkas, waltzes, and (of course) drinking songs. Even if it does rain (but, look, the gods smile upon reveling beer-swillers), you’ll be protected by a huge tent that measures 50′ x 90′. That’s 450 square feet. Yeah, whoever said math wasn’t important to learn and that you’d never use it?!
When you come down for some fun, you’d be our best buds if you brought a few cans of food to donate that will go to the Gillespie Center/Homes for Hope. Proceeds from Biergarten on the Green go to local non-profits and the Westport Downtown Merchant Association’s efforts to keep Westport pretty.
