Forgive us for not getting this out sooner, but a little thing named Sandy got in the way. :) We’re pleased to share with you that Harry’s Wine & Liquor in Fairfield is celebrating its 71st birthday and has some free fun times ahead for you this weekend. Although you might have missed the pre-anniversary tasting on Halloween, you still have today and tomorrow to get your drink on and find new favorites. Today, from 4-7 pm, you’ll have a special beer tasting featuring Goose Island. On Saturday, there are two separate tastings: 1) Wine tasting from 1-4 pm featuring Piedmont Italian wines and vineyards 2) Bourbon tasting from 4-7 featuring Jefferson’s Presidential 18 year craft whiskey. If you have no power, this is a great way to keep warm. If you have power, this is a great way to keep warm. :P
If you’ve never been to Harry’s, then this will be a great introduction to the enormous variety of wines, liquors, beer, and more that they take care of for you. Believe it or not, Harry’s remains a family business, owned by the Pollacks. Harry and Betty Pollack opened Harry’s doors in 1941. When they retired, their son Saul took the helm. Now, you’ll find Saul’s son Scott running the business along with the legendary Harry’s veterans aka William Miller and Patrick Monteleone. You’ll also find these great people at Harry’s: Christelle Marilhet (Wine Specialist), Janice Monteleone (Books, Staff, Wine sales), Greg Wood (Wine Sales), and the awesome Renzo Kian-Kubota, the Artisan Beer Specialist.
