Back on May 14, we told ya to expect Plan B Burger Bar to expand into Fairfield. People responded very well, sharing and liking the news that became one of our most popular posts of the month. And, there’s great reason for people to get excited. The old post office building at 1262 Boston Post Road is huge, boasts 4,600 square feet, will have an expansive bar, and will be able to seat 140 people. And, of course, they’ll be serving up great craft brews on their rotating tap lines, will have a great selection of bourbon, will have their popular daily ground burgers, and an expansive menu to boot. For more on the food, check out our Plan B Stamford review.
But, this seventh Plan B can’t fill itself with servers, chefs, and barkeeps this coming fall. They’re going to need to do some serious hiring…we’re talking 80-85 employees just for Fairfield. Now, what would you expect to do in order to get a job to work at Plan B? Hand in a fancy resume, show off your cooking skills, bus some tables, take some orders? Well, that’s kind of the old school approach, Plan B does things much differently. Starting off, if you’re interested in a job at Plan B, you might meet them at a job fair, answer odd questions online, submit a video, or through the classic interview. If you pass the first round, you’ve given the chance to get to the second round.
And, this is where the awesomeness comes in and makes us wanna try out to work at Plan B: you take part in a Plan B Field Day! Potential employees run through an obstacle course, complete various activities, and have a meet (meat?) and greet over a BBQ. Then, if ya make the cut, you’re hired. As to why Plan B would take this approach to finding new employees, Chief Strategy Office Lena DiGenti said, “We want to maintain our company culture and hire staff members who are fun, hardworking, and love burgers, beer and bourbon. It’s a bit unconventional, but if you don’t like our recruitment strategy, then you probably don’t want to work with us anyway.”
