Look, you’ve been working hard this week.  You’ve done a great job shoveling (or making someone else shovel) and you’ll have bravely fought against the storm ready to strike us tomorrow!  So, isn’t it about time that you treat yourself to some great food, specifically cheese?

Lucky ducky you…Fairfield Cheese Company has two great events planned this Friday and Saturday.  Let’s start with Friday’s event on 2/7, their first ever cheese and wine paired dinner at their store.  Chris Palumbo (co-owner with Laura Downey) will be cooking up 5 courses of awesomeness using Essex Street Cheese.  The event begins at 7, costs $100, and is limited to just 16 seats, so you better get on that and call up Laura at (203) 292-8194.  A portion of the ticket sales will go to the Daphne Zepos Teaching Award which is a scholarship that allows people to travel, learn, and teach others about the awesomeness of cheese.  And, here’s the decadent menu:

Course 1:  Beets and Brabander

Roasted organic red and golden beets, Brabander Goat Gouda, and Gilbertie’s organic microgreens

Paired with St. Ludwig Bernkasteler Kurfurstlay Riesling Spatlese 2011

Course 2:  Scallops and Comte

Pan seared diver scallop, faro, organic kale, extra aged Marcel Petite Comte and pork belly confit (DAMN!)

Paired with Eugene Carrel & Fils Roussette de Savoie Altesse 2012

Course 3:  Ravioli and Manchego 1605

Ricotta, Manchego 1605, and quince stuffed ravioli with brown butter sage sauce and toasted Marcona almonds

Paired with Vina Bujanda Rioja Crianza 2009

Course 4:  Short Rib Parmigiano Reggiano

Wine braised Craft Butchery short rib, served with Cravero Parmigiano Reggiano polenta

Paired with Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella 2010

Course 5:  Chocolate Torte and L’Amuse

Flourless chocolate hazelnut cake, L’Amuse Gouda, and Creme Anglaise.

Paired with Warre’s Late Bottled Vintage Port 2002

And, as if you couldn’t get enough Essex Street Cheese (is there such a thing?), there’s more in store at the store on Saturday, 2/8.  Just come on down from 12-4 and there will be an epic Essex Street Cheese Case Takeover!  Not only that, but Leah Lewis and Rachel Juhl of Essex Street Cheese Co. will be there on hand, too.  You’ll want to stock up on their cheeses like L’Amuse Gouda, Brabander Gouda, Wilde Weide Gouda, Marcel Petite Comte, Manchego 1605, and the Cravero Parmigiano Reggiano.

So, call up to get your reservations and stop down on Saturday to stock up on some killer cheeses.  And, don’t forget to check out their other amazing Cheese School classes
