Our favorite burger joint comes to Stamford! New Beach Burger/Mr. Frosty’s Spot in Harbor Point.

28 May

A bacon wrapped hot dog with guacamole, pico de gallo, and jalapeno (Tijuana Dog) can soon be yours in Stamford!

Update:  Today and tomorrow are soft openings in preparation for Friday’s Grand Opening of Mr. Frosty’s!  Who’s in?

Directions:  read the following question then choose the best answer.

1)  Add one part Mr. Frosty’s in Norwalk, mix in a second part The Beach Burger, then dash in some Harbor Point Stamford and guess what you get?

A) A ridiculously, magically delicious restaurant that rivals the awesomeness of unicorns.

B) Another reason to visit Stamford.

C) Another reason to be alive.

D) All of the above.

If you are any good at these kinds of questions, you picked D.  Let’s show you why D is correct. Restaurant owner, Anthony Luciani gave us the exclusive scoop:

Anthony Luciani has the magic touch.  Mr. Frosty’s, on 6 1st Street in Norwalk, has a devoted following and we’ve never seen it empty.  Maybe it’s the 3o or so hard ice cream, sherbert, and sorbert flavors, or maybe it’s their soft serve and froyo options, their bountiful sundaes, or their thick whipped razzles?  Nah, couldn’t be.

But even more magical is his other joint, The Beach Burger, right next door.  They are the 2011 OmNomy Winner for Best Burger.  It’s hard to go wrong here:  from the Bynum Burger, to the classic Beach Burger, to an oyster-laden Surf & Turf Burger.  But, they also have some killer hot dogs, such as the Tijuana dog that has a bacon wrapped wiener, guacamole, jalapenos, and pico de gallo.  Our other favorite thing to order are their killer milkshakes.  Apple Pie, PB&J, and Nut Crusher are our great loves that we dream of as we go to sleep.  Plus, they’ve got some really great seafood dishes Kristien raves about like lobster, oyster and clam rolls.

So, why have I told you so much about both spots?

Well, if the title and the first question didn’t already give it away, both will come together in Anthony’s new spot on 100 Washington Boulevard in the Harbor Point part of Stamford.  It’s a very similar set up to Mr. Frosty’s in Norwalk:  you’ll walk up to the window, place your order, then take your food and take a seat at one of the picnic benches outside.  Don’t limit yourself, though.  Just walk about a block and you’ll be right on the docks and can stroll along and chomp on a burger, sip on a shake, or tackle a monster sundae.

You’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful spring, summer, and fall with them because they’ll be open from March through November, too. Anthony is still tweaking the menu a bit, but you’ll have nearly all the same options from The Beach Burger in your gluttonous arsenal as well as pretty much all the ice creams from Mr. Frosty’s.

after going for lunch with two coworkers and spending upwards of $40 for drinks, burgers and fries, and sitting in the sun I asked for some tap water on top of the ice left in my cup.
The girl with long hair told me she could “sell me a bottle” of water!!!!

That certainly doesn’t seem right. Sorry you had that experience. Did you talk to a manager about this? :(

i did call the Norwalk location, she was apologetic. I’ll give it some time and maybe I’ll go back once they get their “back ordered” table/seating

This is some pretty awesome news, fo’ sure. I agree that the town probably cant handle any more burger joints, especially not until more of the harbor point housing goes up. There needs to be a good balance and flow between growing the population and then adding more places and then back and forth. Would be a shame for places to close down shortly after opening. I do think though that the various burger joints all will differ slightly though. Plan B is more of a burger/craft beer restuarant. I do think though that even though Plan B and Station eats are very different, they will be dangerously close to each other (kind of in different areas of the same over all complex)…Plan B moving in probably isnt the best for Station Eats. Any way ya slice it though, it is awesome to have soooo many tasty options. Has anyone eaten at Bar Q yet? (I just tried a little of what they were passing around the first friday night)

Hey there Kevin. :) Kristien and I love Station Eats too…it’s always so hard to decide if we love Station Eats or Beach Burger more because they are both just so damn good. We certainly hope that Station Eats will do well and continue to thrive. They’ve really become very popular lately, so that’s great to see their patio packed.

As for BarQ, we ate there Friday. Check us out soon. :)

Peter, us too! :) It takes us about 20 minutes to get to Beach Burger in Norwalk, so this will be cut down to about 10 or so minutes. Very nice. We can now spend that extra 10 minutes eating more food. :P

Love the way you think Dan! So excited for this news. The Stamford burger market is probably nearing over-saturation (pity for Plan B that it took them over a year to open and now they’ve gone from being the first new place to last) but I’m perfectly okay with having so many options!

:) Thanks Suzanne :) Kristien and I have realized that we think and talk about food way too much. There’s more to life, isn’t there? :) We do worry about there being too many burger options, but I think we’ll be okay. As long as there aren’t any more burger spots after Plan B. We also have Morelli Double Burger next to Zaza. Wonder how that is.
