There certainly is no limit to the fun things going on in Fairfield County recently. We can’t attend all of them, but we’re trying hard to keep you aware so you can pick the ones ya love. Soupstock III is definitely one of those events that you need to know about.
It’s going down Saturday, 6/9/12 from 10-8 pm at Veteran’s Memorial Park (The Slab) in downtown Shelton. Proceeds will go towards The Mary A Schmecker Turtle Shell Fund (read more here) that benefits art, craft, and music education for children and young adults. Let’s give you a killer list of reasons to go:
*
1) 3rd Annual Soupstock Soup Cook-Off
• People and local chefs will be competing to win the SOUPSTOCK title. If you’d like to be a judge, it’s simple. Give a small donation to the Turtle Shell Fund and then you get to become a “Schmecker,” which we just found out means ‘taster’ in German. You’ll be able to taste the soup all day and will get to vote in your faves.
*
2) Lots of food
• Get ready for some brick oven pizza, some Middle Eastern food, and even some grilling magic. There’s lots more in store, too, so come with an empty stomach.
*
3) Music
*
4) Arts and Crafts
•
Tons of vendors to check out while you’re trying some soup or listening to some tunes.
*
5) Kid Friendly
• A bounce house
• Kids Olympics
• An Art Expo tent with local student art
*
6) They Need Volunteers
• Yup, wanna help out? E-mail info@soupstockfestival.org and ask what ya can do.
