Food Drives, Doodle Contests, + More @ Westport + Weston Restaurant Week

26 Sep

It’s a very simple formula:  get a bunch of restaurants in your area to participate in a three course meal for a set price.  That being said, it seems that places around Connecticut are trying to change things up a bit to make things interesting.  Fairfield, for example, has created a passport that can be filled up, used for discounts, and that can be used to enter to win a stay at the Southport Delamar.

Well, the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce has some great things up their sleeves, too.  In addition to getting a lunch or dinner of three courses for a set price (we’ll update when we get the prices), you’ll be able to have fun and help out, too.  First off, when you hit up any of the restaurants listed below, you can grab one of their napkins and doodle away to your heart’s content.  When you submit your drawing to the restaurant, you’ll be entered into the “Dinner Doodle” contest and may even be featured at the Dinner Doodle Party on October 17 at the Westport Arts Center.

Westport & Weston Restaurant Week is also helping to give back for Homes with Hope.  At all restaurants, you’ll be able to bring a can (or cans) of food along and donate to the “Have a Meal, Give a Meal” food drive.  Last of all, you’ll be able to purchase discounted tickets to Westport Country Playhouse‘s A Raisin in the Sun. This classic American play (and one of Dan’s favorites) will run from October 9 – November 3 and is directed by Phylicia Rashad.  The same Phylicia Rashad of The Cosby Show fame, yes!

In terms of restaurants, you have so many great choices.  Of the ones that we’ve tried, we’d definitely recommend hitting up Bobby Q’s, Dressing Room, Matsu Sushi, Tabouli Grill, and Terrain.  For trying out restaurants, we’d love to try out Bistro 88, Rizzuto’s (we hear it’s the best one), Tarantino’s, Tarry Lodge, and Tavern on Main.

Which restaurants do you plan on hitting up?  Do you have any favorites on this list that you definitely plan on going to?
