There’s so much going on in Lower Fairfield County over the next few weeks that we needed to get our second volume of food news out to ya. There are so many things, in fact, you’ll wish that you could clone yourself in order to attend all of these events. Bridgeport
Barnum Publick House: Publick Thursdays now at Barnum Publick House! From 9-11, get $4 drinks and hear DJ Schmidty spin the wheels of fire. Also, on Halloween, check out their first annual Roaring 20’s Halloween Bash. There’s no cover charge and you pay only $4 for pumpkin beers all night long. And, DJ Schmidty is back for some more action, playing your faves.
Darien
Darien Social has Oktoberfest Ginger Hop going on starting on 10/15. All you can drink flights of 3 Oktoberfest beers and A Oh the Humanity Flaming Hindenberg Shot and your choice of snitzle, knockwurst, knackwurst, or bratwurst for just $25 per person.
Tokeneke Pumpkin Festival on 10/13 from 10 – 4 pm. Check out the haunted house, fun rides and games, rock climbing, bouncy castles, and even some fun raffles. There will also be some good food available from Upper Crust Bakery & Cafe, Heights Pizza, and Burgers, Shakes, & Fries. The money made from this event will help fund enrichment programs for the Tokeneke Elementary School where the festival takes places.
Greenwich
Morello Bistro has a new chef in charge! Welcome Executive Chef Forrest Pasternack to this neighborhood Italian gem that has homemade sauce, fresh pasta, and dishes that are sure to please.
Norwalk
John Dough’s Pizza Bar has opened in Norwalk. We love the clever name, and we’re looking forward to some of their New Haven style pies. Visit their sister restaurant, Behind the Net in Darien, too: they are our Twitter buds.
Stew Leonard’s of Norwalk has a Halloween Hayride Spooktacular for $1 per person that’s going on now until Halloween. It’s a 15 minute ride, complete with popular scenes from movie and tv, and even has a musical light show. It runs M-Th from 3 – 8 pm, F from 3 – 9 pm, and Sa-Su from 9 am – 8 pm. Also, if your child comes dressed up on Halloween, he or she will receive a free small ice cream. Aw yeah.
Stamford
Afternoon Pig Roast Party at the Eagle’s Club in Stamford on 10/13 from 2:30 – 5:30. There will be lots of food and great music for just 3o buckaroos. Drinks are extra, but won’t break the bank.
Bar Rosso is throwing a Halloween bash on 10/27. Awards for best and worst costume with drink specials all night. The DJ starts at 9:30 pm. What what?!
Bar Q and Black Bear are holding a “Wear Pink to Drink” night on 10/20. Pinkify yourself, donate $10 towards defeating breast cancer, then get $3 well drinks and $3 drafts all. night. long. There will be giveaways and even some signature pink cocktails to try.
Columbus Park Trattoria: like their vodka sauce so much that you want to swim in it? Well, now you can make that dream happen by buying your own and bringing it home with you!
Dolce Cubano has its liquor permit and has updated their FB site with some stunning pics of how things look now. Nick and co have come quite a long way from when we first stopped by to talk.
Half Full Brewery: their second Open House is 10/12 from 5-8 pm. $15 for a pint glass and samples of their Bright Ale, Pumpkin Ale, IPA, and InaugarAle. Also, there’s a tour on 10/13 from 12-3.
Mr. Frosty’s of Stamford has a new fall and winter menu AND they now deliver. We feel ourselves getting fatter already.
Westport
Saugatuck Grain and Grape is offering a Cordials and Cocktail Tasting on 10/23 from 6-8 pm. Jeff and crew will teach you about what ingredients make up classic cocktails. According to their FB invite, “We will have a huge selection of vermouth, amaro, aperitif wines, cordials, sochu/soju, cocktail bitters, cognac/brandy, calvados, digestivos, liqueurs, absinthe and barrel aged cocktails to sample.” Yeah, you definitely need to hit this one up.
Statewide
Congratulations to four Connecticut craft breweries who are featured in a NY Times article: Half Full Brewery, Relic Brewing Co, Thimble Island Brewing Company, and Back East Brewing Company.

Went on a dead night with a group of friends, took OVER 1 hour to order 3 pizzas. Owner came out and apologized, the owner AGREED to pay for our pizzas if we over tipped the server. After we OVER tipped the server, the owner tracked us down on the sidewalk and persuaded us to pay for full bill + our generous tip.
Absolutely HORRIBLE service and ownership. I will be sure everyone reads this before they go there. Put this company out of business, they are clueless.
