Eat for Equity Heats up the Kitchen in Stamford for 1st Event Benefitting Kids in Crisis

22 Oct

Eat for Equity (see our intro to them) had its first fundraising dinner this past Saturday at a lovely, warm and cozy house in Stamford.  Over 60 people attended, definitely filling up the house, the side rooms, the dining room, and even outside surrounding a fire put.  But, there was plenty of food for every person along with drinks aplenty.  Here’s a recap of the yumminess:

  • Tomato basil soup
  • Gourmet grilled cheese
  • Butternut squash mac and cheese
  • “Fudgy Bites” as quoted by Dan, some said cake bites.  We like the ring of “Fudgy Bites.”
  • Apple caramel cream cheese cupcakes
  • S’mores by the fire pit outside.

Meg and RJ reap the fruits of their labors

While RJ was working hard cooking during the first E4E event, Meg Dalton was watching people enjoy all her baked goodies that took her quite some time to whip and mix up.  Yeah, they were awesome and so was the food.  The awesome smoked gouda in the grilled cheese came from Grade A Market and much of the other food came from Fairgate Farm.  Conor and crew at Half Full Brewery also filled up some growlers for the event, so you best believe people were converting over to Half Full Hoptimists.

With the over 60 people that showed up, Kids in Crisis raised $1,078 dollars.  We think it’s awesome that a group of caring, loving, and hungry people in a community could come together and could raise that money within a few short hours.

Feeling left out from all the fun?  Well, mark up your calendar for December 1st and don’t dare schedule anything at all.  On that night you’ll partake in the second dinner party of Eat for Equity.  Please check them out and fill out the form on this site, letting them know how you’d like to get involved.  Remember that you could help to organize the events, clean dishes, keep things going, cook, eat, and other odds and ends.  When we get more info on what the next dinner’s theme will be about and what charity will be helped out, we’ll definitely let you know.

Meg baked up some killer desserts. Were you lucky enough to have one?

We had such a great time and left feeling so happy.  We felt like we had met so many amazing people, we left full, and most importantly we felt that we had brought the world just a bit closer to being better for all.

As far as we know, they are only in MINNEAPOLIS, PORTLAND, BOSTON, and the OZARKS right now. There might be a pilot run in NYC, though, like there is in Stamford. After a few dinners, they become an official chapter. Would you be interested in creating a NYC chapter? That would be amazing.

Dan and Kristien, Thank you so much for your incredible support of Eat for Equity Stamford! We’re so glad you had a great time and left feeling full – in your bellies and hearts.

We have branches emerging in Stamford – and Chicago, DC, Madison, Seattle, Phoenix, Bay Area, and Santa Cruz – cities hosting their first few events and building giving communities. We would love for you all to spread the word!
