Update:  back on track!  Harvest Table is happening on 11/11 from 11 to 2:30 pm.

Our crazy dog Maynard who is harassing us now to throw the ball to him.

Our cute kitties who leave piles of fur, day after day, throughout the house.

Our health.

The promise of new beginnings.

Fans that rock and that make our day, every day.

These are just some of the things that we’re thankful for.  See, there’s just something about the holidays that makes us reflect back on our lives, see what we have, then see how we can give back to those who don’t have.  It’s that spirit of giving that fuels New Covenant House of Hospitality, a vital soup kitchen and food provider that is able to feed residents of Lower Fairfield County.  In fact, they provided over 600,000 meals to residents just last year.  To help them continue their mission, they are throwing their Second Annual Harvest Table event on 11/3 from 11 am to 2:30 pm at the Italian Center of Stamford.

Tickets are $50 plus a can of non-perishable food (buy here or call Betsy Lopez at (203) 964-8228) and that gets you:

  • A sizeable donation that will help feed the hungry of Fairfield County.
  • Cooking demos and tastings luncheon from local restaurants
    • Barcelona of Stamford:  samples of wine paired with hors d’oeuvre and charcuterie.
    • Tabouli Grill:  fresh and flavorful Middle Eastern dishes that you can serve with holiday meals.
    • Wave Hill Breads & Cafe:  lots of baked goodies.
    • Cucina Casalinga of Wilton:  creative Italian dishes for the holiday.
    • L’Escale:  pastries, icings, and decorations.
    • Cafe Oo La La:  crunch grilled french toast with pure maple syrup and a fall fruit compote.
  • Luncheon that features guest speaker Debra Ponzek:  chef, cookbook author, and owner of Aux Delices of Greenwich.
  • Corner Cottage Florist of Greenwich:  demonstrating holiday-themed arrangements and new floral trends.
  • Begin your holiday shopping!
  • A silent auction, too.

People from all across Lower Fairfield County have helped to put together this great event including Holly Richardson of Bridgeport; Leslie Laughren of Darien; Lisa Bailey, Michelle Bella, and Irene Theriot of Greenwich; Ellen Zumbach of New Canaan; and Moira Colangelo, Sustan Harinstein, Linda Koe, and Barbara Rossi of Stamford.

So, if you’re free, feel like figuring out what to do for the holidays, want to try some great food, and feel like giving back, this is the place to be next Saturday.  You might not have a crazy doggy or uber furry cats, but we bet you have a few things to be grateful for.  Share the love.
