Yee Haw! Eat for Equity Goes Tex-Mex with Meal to Benefit Domus

4 Jan

Fixin’ to have a great meal, meet new people, have a blast, and help out a local charity?  Of course you are, partner.  When we attended our first Eat for Equity event back in October, we were blown away by how many people showed up, how great the food was, and how much money was raised ($1,078) for Kids in Crisis.  Their second meal focused on vegetarian fare and was heart healthy and raised $1,688 for American Red Cross, directly benefiting those affected by Hurricane Sandy.  This time around, good ol’ fashioned Texan food is the focus with all donations from the night benefiting Domus of Stamford.  Domus fights for the most disadvantaged children in the Stamford area, giving them hope and the help to be successful.

Well, y’all want to mosey on down to Trailblazers Academy, located at 83 Lockwood Avenue in Stamford on 2/2 from 7-10 for heapin’ portions of awesome Texan food.  There’s no cost to get in, but a donation of $15-20 to Domus would be purely awesome.  The meal, like all Eat for Equity events, features fresh and local ingredients whenever possible.  The whole night, also, is put together by Eat for Equity staff and volunteers who want to help by cleaning, cooking, or organizing.  Check out more info with our original post and make sure to register by clicking here.  Now,  here’s the menu, cowpokes:

  • Chips with garden salsa and black bean dip
  • Local greens and roasted potato salad with a cilantro-lime dressing
  • A meat chili with beef, kidney beans, and locally brewed red ale or a vegetarian chili with mixed beans, pumpkin, zucchini, and root veggies
  • Two types of cornbread
  • Not on the menu, but making a guest appearance are some chocolate chipotle brownies that we’re baking for everybody.

Hope to see you there!  If you do see us, make sure to introduce yourself and say hi.

Yours in noming,

Dan and Kristien

Thanks for the shout out, y’all! We’re mighty excited to partner with RJ, a fine human being, and the other nice folks from EforE–gonna raise a little money and a little awareness ’bout the challenges facing these young’uns and all the ways we can help them when everyone pitches in. Hope to see ya at the shindig!
