Bob LeRose, owner of Bobby Q’s in Westport and Bar Q in Stamford grew up in the Riverside neighborhood of Greenwich, CT. Do you think he ever realized that just right down the block from his first home would be the site of his future restaurant, his third nonetheless? Or, do you think he ever could have imagined that he’d create one of the best festivals in Connecticut: Blues, Views, & BBQ? How could any person (aside from John Edwards) fortell such awesomeness?
So, what does Bob LeRose have in store for us in Greenwich with Bobby Q’s Pit Stop (no site yet) that will open in about three weeks? Well, starting off he’s teamed up with his cousin Joey Boucher who first opened up Joey B’s in Cos Cob. This team makes the perfect pairing for what Bobby Q’s Pit Stop will be all about: bbq, burgers, dogs, chili, sides, and salads to go. Their new restaurant will be located at 1340 East Putnam Ave. in Greenwich right where Moe’s Burger Joint used to be. If you feel like eating in, there will be 12 seats and plenty of standing room while you devour the best of American cuisine. Speaking of the food, let’s dive deeper into the menu. There will be some classic dishes from Bobby Q’s in Westport. On the menu will also be five different chilis based off of the family recipe, held onto by their Uncle Frank. The dogs featured here blew Bobby and Joey away and are made by a company in Boston. They are the first restaurant in Connecticut to serve these dogs up! The burgers are going to be great too, made with fresh daily ground beef that is sourced locally. Also, the salads are a nice option for friends or family members who don’t want meat or want something not as heavy…there are plans for three different kinds right now. Rounding things up are the sides, many of which are vegetarian friendly…very nice touch. You don’t have to be Debbie Downer anymore and be the one to say, “Oh, but they don’t have anything vegetarian here!”
The recipes featured at Bobby Q’s Pit Stop are a product of years of blood, sweat, tears, experimentation, and creativity in the kitchen for Bob and Joey. This leads to one of the most important things for Bob: creativity and pushing your boundaries. He didn’t want to open another Bobby Q’s clone and push out another restaurant under the same exact model. Instead, he came together with family back to his hometown to bring great food. According to BBQ great LeRose, that’s exactly what Bobby Q’s Pit Stop will be all about: family, the community, and coming together over great food. “It’s more than the food you put on the plate…it’s also about community,” he told us.
What else can we say? We think Bob is an awesome kind of guy and he loves to give back. Whether it’s teaching amateurs how to BBQ, holding a BBQ contest, putting together events like Biergarten on the Green, donating to charities and local organizations, or making Connecticut a BBQ force to be reckoned with, Bob has really developed the recipe for success. We’re very excited for the opening and we know that our friends Kevin and Alyson who live nearby will be, too. Also, as Bobby Q’s Pit Stop gets closer to summer, expect to get delivery! Anybody in nearby Stamford or Greenwich will be happy for that. Plus, they’ll have catering available, so if you’re looking to get food for a nice get together or family BBQ, Bob and Joey are the men to hit up!
Congratulations to Bob and Joey on their newest venture together. We can’t wait to dive on in and go hog wild!

Hi OmNomCT, Wondering if you heard any updates on Pit Stop? One of my neighbors said she ate there and I found one blog post reviewing it. But they were all locked up last night when I went and there is still no website (that I can find). I’m itching to try this place! lol. Thanks for any new info you have.

Hey Lauren, we saw that same review and we were surprised. We almost went this past weekend, but didn’t venture out. We don’t know if it’s open, though. It might have been a soft opening for just a day or two to test things out…not really sure. We also can’t find a site yet. When we get info, we’ll definitely let you know. :)

We tried it last week so it must be at least partially open. We thought it was okay. Definitely not as special as Dinosaur BBQ.

Give ‘um a few weeks and see what they can put out. Will be a totally different vibe and kind of food than Dino. You’re so lucky you got to try it out! :)

When I passed by last night it looked like there was a lot of staff parked on the side of the building and the lights were on. I might try to stop again after work. I can see all the sauces lined up in the windows so they have to be ready to open soon! :-)

Save your money and time. Not worth the paper they serve the food on. Nothing much better to say about the management.

So intrigued by this! Thanks for sharing! Personally not loving the new night-time vibe at Bar Q, so happy to hear of this addition.

We’ve heard about the night time vibe, yeah, but when you consider all the clubs and bars in the area, it really fills a unique void. Not too many cowboy/cowgirl bars in the area. :) We haven’t been there in a while, but imagine it’s pretty much the same during the day still? About what time did you go by at night? Just wondering when it all begins.

Full disclosure, I haven’t been at night since the change. :) It’s their facebook updates that make me want to stay away.
My guess is after 10p. But yes, otherwise I’d think it would be exactly the same.

Hey, look, the night scene is not everybody’s scene. We admit it ourselves…we aren’t night people. We’d actually rather just chill and relax on a night, rather than hit up bars. We’ve never really been bar people. But, we could hit up restaurant/bars during the day, no problem. :)
