Give Jacob and Mason of Cocoa Loco a Kickstart into Chocolatopia

Can you remember what you did when you got out of college?  Took a job as a waiter, a substitute teacher, a receptionist, or just ripped your hair out waiting for that phone call?  Well, for Jacob Maude and Mason Amato graduating college meant having a chance to do something fun, something great, and something big.  That big thing is what is now called Cocoa Loco.

Even in high school in Old Greenwich, Jacob and Mason had high hopes and constantly bounced ideas of world domination back and forth with each other.  Their moment of inspiration came when they visited Cadbury and various stores for ideas after they had stopped working at a souvenir company.  What they noticed was that every store had some counter space devoted to chocolate.  This is where the choco-madness began!

They practiced hour upon hour, day upon day, perfecting their chocolate making.  They read to the point of eye strain and to the point of sweet exhaustion from stirring the chocolate.  To get an even closer look into the world of the cocoa bean, Jake took a job at a chocolate factory.  Soon after, they were able to secure a professional kitchen to use.  Their first shift was a mind-bending 12 hours from 8 pm – 8 am, but they did produce 500 bars as a result.

At this point, they realized that if they were to create more of their fine Belgian chocolate, they would need a brand new, fancy machine.  Yes, they needed a bar wrapper machine.  With that machine, they’ll be able to put Cocoa Loco in more stores and places than ever like the Old Greenwich Farmers’ Market!  Also, they’ll be closer on their way to selling their goodies through their online store which is an eventual goal of theirs.  And, that’s where Kickstarter comes in…

If you’re not familiar with Kickstarter, here’s a quick summary:  people have great ideas and if you like them, you can investWhen you invest, there are certain rewards or benefits of investing, too.  Aside from knowing that you helped people to become successful and kickstart their business, you can also get some sweet things.

For example, let’s look at what Cocoa Loco has to offer you when help them out:

  • $7 or more:  they’ll send you six petite Belgian milk chocolate bars.
  • $12 or more:  they’ll send you four chocolate covered Oreos and two chocolate covered marshmallows.
  • $14 or more:  they’ll send you 14 petite Belgian milk chocolate bars or a card with 6 chocolate covered Oreos to the person of your choice.
  • $22 or more:  they’ll send you a dozen chocolate covered marshmallows dipped in your choice of coconut, almond, or spicy red pepper.
  • And the ways to contribute go all the way up to pledging $500 or more and getting 450 Belgian chocolate packages with your own logo.  Each of the packages contains two of their Belgian chocolate bars.

Their Kickstarter account already has 62 backers that have contributed $1,590.  Their goal is to reach $5,500 by March 3 at 5:02 when their Kickstarter effort ends.  If you are obsessed with chocolate and would love to help some nice guys get their start (and also get some cocoa goodness in return), then think about helping them out.  Oh, and definitely check them out when they start to restock local stores and markets with their Belgian chocolate treats.

Good luck Cocoa Loco!
