You’re all in for a real sweet treat. Forever Sweet Bakery (formerly Sweet Endings) has set up their very own location in Norwalk at 4 New Canaan Avenue.
You might remember we wrote about their awesome cupcakes, cookies, and treats when they were at Stamford Town Center. While they moved out, they took up shop and based themselves out of Scoop Cafe in Stamford. During this time, they were able to get their cupcakes placed in many restaurants and were able to make lots of custom cakes and grow a steady customer base.
Frances Mercede, baker/owner extraordinaire, recalls what it was like to see the building at 4 New Canaan Avenue: “When Sky showed me the space, I knew this would be a great home for Forever Sweet Bakery.” But, that doesn’t mean it was easy to get things rolling. Sky (co-owner, husband of Frances, media specialist, awesome guy all around) immediately got to work with friend Ted Sihpol and built a wicked awesome bakery. One of the Forever Sweet Bakery customers said, in fact, “This is the nicest looking bakery I have seen.”
You’re probably wondering what they’ll be selling, so we’ll get right into that. First off, they’ll have their amazing cupcakes, cupcakes in a jar, cake pops, cakes, speciality cakes, push pops, cookies, and whoopie pies. We think the cupcakes here are some of the best that we’ve ever had. They are flavorful, they are moist, and they always hit the spot. Kristien’s favorite (and the overwhelming customer favorite) is their red velvet cupcake. Major noms. We also enjoyed their cake pops for a little snack here and there. For a more substantial snack that could possibly be a meal, check out the cupcake in a jar. You have a layer of cupcake, then whipped cream, then another layer of cupcake, then more whipped cream, and then one more layer of cupcake with whipped cream on top. And, the cookies: thin, crispy, yummy.
So, how have they been doing since they opened? Well, that’s easy: great! One of their first customers who walked into their bakery was none other than Walter Stewart of Walter Stewart’s Market in New Canaan. He got himself some of their awesome cupcakes and gave them a signed dollar bill that said, “Good Luck” on it. Bobby Valentine also came by to visit them recently, wishing them lots of luck. Oh, and are there any All My Children fans out there? Frances recently made a cake for Thorsten Kaye (Zack), but then he fell down an elevator shaft, but then he somehow survived along with the cake, but then he found out that his wife was cheating on him, but then he found out that his wife was really his long lost sister, but then he found out that the marriage was never legal to begin with. Dunnh dunnhh duhhhh.
We wish Sky and Fran lots of continued success at their brand new bakery. May all your days be Forever Sweet. ;)
