Belly Up Stamford Beer Garden Fundraiser Community Plates

Update:  There will also be a 50/50 raffle with tickets at 1 for $5, or 3 for $10 with prizes from Fairway, exhale, Hotel Zero Degrees, Match, and more!  Also, Community Plates will be on hand if you’d like to sign up and help join in their food rescuing efforts.

The hopping (get what we did there?) Beer Garden @ Harbor Point has been open for just a few weeks now, but it’s probably one of the busiest places around the city.  And, props to them, because they are hosting a fundraiser for Community Plates.  We’ve talked about this great organization before (and their recent expansion into New Haven), but to recap they rescue food that would have been wasted from restaurants, supermarkets, and other places, then deliver that food to local shelters and food banks.  Believe it or not, this is a completely volunteer driven organization, so you have to imagine that funding for what they do isn’t easy to come by.

Dan, Volter, Kristien, and Dennis meet up! Great guys!

Bringing the community together through brews and food, all for a good cause…

The fundraiser is called Community Plates Night at Harbor Point and it’s happening on June 19 from 4-9 pm.  How will the fundraiser work?  Simple!  It’s going to be the same thing that you’ve been doing at The Beer Garden all along.  You get some awesome food and you get some great drinks and in return the food trucks and The Beer Garden will donate a portion of their sales directly to Community Plates.  The food trucks that will be lined up are the much anticipated Vanchetta (we wrote about them yesterday), Mr. Frosty’s, Lobstercraft, and Hot Off the Grille!   And, after you get your fill of great food, make sure to get some brews to wash it all down with.  Just a note, they won’t allow you to take drinks to the food trucks anymore, so maybe have a friend hold a table, get the food, then bring it over and have some brews?  And, hey, why not buy a full round for all your friends?

Now you’ve got an excuse to go out and drink on a Wednesday night…it’s for charity.  :)
