Don’t get us wrong, we love September.  The weather is great…it’s not too hot, not too cold.  Dan is born in September, it’s the start of fall, one of our favorite seasons…but it also brings about the end of summer.

Well, you need not feel so down that the warmer days are gone because Millstone Farm in Wilton have two great workshops planned for you.  Each workshop costs only $30 so just e-mail info@millstonefarm.org to reserve your spot.  Get on top of that fast because the space in the Millstone Farm kitchen is limited.  Once you’ve safeguarded your spot, mail the check to Mill Stone Farm; 180 Millstone Road; Wilton, CT 06897.  Here are the details, straight from Millstone Farm:

Canning & Preserving Tomatoes
Saturday, September 7: 1pm – 3pm

We’re entering peak tomato season and there’s no better time to start canning and storing those ephemeral fruits for the winter ahead! Learn the basics of canning, freezing, and putting up tomatoes at home from Millstone’s farmer, Annie Farrell. Come prepared to chop, cook, can, and taste your way to a well-stocked winter pantry.

Juicing & Blending for Health
Saturday, September 28: 1pm – 3pm

A juice a day will keep the doctor away! Learn how to optimize the produce from your CSA share, farmer’s market haul, or your own garden by creating nutritionally-packed juices and blended drinks at home. Dorothy Mulroy, RN, Holistic Health Coach, and owner of Liquid Grass Juice Bar, will lead us through this workshop focused on the health benefits of juicing with ingredients that are local, clean, and sustainable for our bodies and the environment.
