These are just some of the killer names of the brutally bodacious babes that have been on the CT RollerGirls team.  With names like that, you know that you’re in for a great show when you check them out trying to rack up points for that amazing roller derby win.  So, why not check them out this Saturday at the CT Sports Center in Woodbridge (21 South Bradley Road), starting at 6? You’ll get two matches for the price of one!  Ooooooh.  We’re talking ’bout the Bone Crushers vs. Widowmakers, then men’s roller derby gets in on the action.  That’s right, the CT Death Quads will be facing off against the Ottawa Slaughter Squad in what will surely prove to be a slobberknocker.  Don’t you love that word?  Slobberknocker!

Tickets are $10 in advance if you purchase them here, $15 at the door, and kids 12 and under are free as long as they come with a paying adult.  Make sure to come hungry and thirsty to the matches because there will be plenty of snacks, cupcakes, Freaky Dog soda, and brews.  Also, there will be lots of CT RollerGirl and generally awesome swag to bring home, too.  If you can’t get enough of the CT RollerGirls, check out their upcoming events like the October 12, November 16, and December 7 bouts.

And, then there’s the Cupcake Derby.  Yeah, we kind of frosted ourselves when we read the details, so let’s give you the info so you can make sure to set the weekend aside and just in case you might be into the contest.  The Cupcake Derby contest is going on 11/10 from 12-3 pm at Two Roads in Stratford.  Amateur and professional bakers are asked to enter  their best cupcakes (register by 10/27) for two prizes:  Judges’ Favorite and People’s Choice.  The jackpot for each prize will vary on how many contestants enter, but you’re guaranteed at least $150 to win.  And, with it only costing $50 to enter (per baker/flavor), the winner could snag quite a nice prize and the glory of winning of course.

Taps at Two Roads Brewing CompanyBy the way, did you notice one of the prizes is People’s Choice?  Yes, that means YOU get to taste the cupcakes and vote for your favorite!  In other words, one free cupcake of each flavor that is entered into the competition will end up in your hungry belly.  All you have to do is pay a $5 admission fee, not too shabby.  Once the voting ends at 3, the winners will be announced around 3:15.  In between munching away on sweets, you can drink some Two Roads brews at the cash bar, drink some Guida’s chocolate milk, hydrate with water being sold by CT RollerGirls, or even take a tour of Two Roads at 1 or 3 (reservations needed).  Finally, if you bring your kids along, they can enter themselves in a contest too…a color contest.  The CT RollerGirls will be giving out prizes for Most Original and Most CTRG Spirit.  The color champions will receive $10 Barnes & Noble gift cards and will get their pictures up on the CT RollerGirls’ website!

Make sure to check out the CT RollerGirls action in Woodbridge and make sure to get down to Two Roads to help support the brutally bodacious babes that represent the CT.  So, what do you think…what would your roller derby name be?
