Reasons to Go Loco for Locali Pizza Bar + Kitchen, Coming to New Canaan

Locali New Canaan_001

Update:  Locali will be open for business staring at 5 pm on 11/29.

Take one Chopped competitor who is Executive Chef at Village Social Kitchen + Bar in Mt. Kisco, NY, add in a brand new New Canaan restaurant, throw in a handcrafted Neapolitan wood-burning pizza oven, and sprinkle in dashes of Mediterranean dishes and you’ve got the recipe for success.  We are referring to Locali, located at 32 Forest Street (where Kouzina used to be), which will be opening up soon.

Let’s look a little closer at Locali Pizza Bar + Kitchen and why it promises to be a great new addition to the local restaurant scene:

Giovanni - Oven

This oven was made in Italy then handcrafted right at Locali. Giovanni, placed in tiles on the oven, is a tribute to Legato’s father.

1)  The pizza oven.  We’re talking about a genuine, amazing, handcrafted Stefano Ferrera Neapolitan wood-burning oven.  This oven was created in Italy, then shipped here, then finished up by Stefano Ferrera himself.  Co-owner Anthony Legato calls it, “The Ferrari of pizza ovens.”  If you’ve had wood-fired pizza, you know how awesome it is.  Keeping things local at Locali, they’ll be using lots of locally sourced ingredients in their pies.  You can expect classic pies and toppings, but also fun and creative twists that promise to hook you in.

2)  The food.  Locali will be serving up pizza and small dishes of classic and modern Mediterranean food.  The menu has been crafted by Executive Chef Mogan Anthony who was recently a competitor on Chopped.  Chef Anthony has also made Village Social Kitchen + Bar in Mt. Kisco very popular and has helped to bring it in overall solid reviews.

3)  The price.  Locali will be an affordable spot, in contrast to many other New Canaan eateries.  Pizzas will range from $11-$18 and their small plates will cost between $5 and $18.  In addition, they’ll have reasonably priced wine, featuring carafes of house wines.

We look forward to the opening of Locali Pizza Bar + Kitchen and think that it will offer up something good to New Canaan.  We wish owners Joe Bueti and Anthony Legato buona fortuna.  We’ll keep you up to date as we learn more about the opening.

Ciao,

Dan e Kristien

They have lots of restaurants, we totally agree with you there. But, there aren’t too many cheaper options available. That’s where this new spot should do very well.

Second place on Chopped doesn’t count.
In a duel with firearms, second place is not a winner.

Never looked at it that way. :) Really enjoyed your analogy! It does say something about getting that far on tv though. :)
