Hey, good news…it’s almost Friday!  So, what better way to celebrate than planning out the next couple of weeks with some great events and checking out some great things that are going on in Connecticut?  This week, we’ve broken down things into a few categories:  Events, Dinners, Farmers’ Markets, Contests, and CT Food and Drink News.  Make sure to check out our Nomworthy Events page for things that we’ve already mentioned, too.


5/29 Mr. Frosty’s in Norwalk (6 1st Street) will be hosting a fundraiser for the BMHS Post Graduation Party tonight.  Come by for some great ice cream and check out special guests:  Lobstercraft!  Yup, they’ll be on hand for all your seafood needs.

5/30  Want to learn how to start your own goat dairy?  Duh, we’d love that!  Well, stop on by Squash Hollow Farm in New Milford at 5:30 to check out the Dairy Goats 101 class!  Tickets are $49.99 and you can order them online.

5/31 Bounty Food Truck will be hanging outside of Garden Cinemas in Norwalk from 2-7 for the 2, 4:20 (how appropriate!), and 6:40 showings of Chef, a movie about a 5 star chef who gave up the fancy restaurant world for the nitty-gritty hustle and bustle of food trucks.

6/1 The Dessert Round finalists for Battle of the Chefs have been selected by Chefs Sarah Bouissou and Art Michaelsen.  The four finalists include Susanne Berne (Chocolate Vanilla Caramel Mousee), Jennifer Fasolino (Blissful Bourbon Pie), Didi Tulloch (Guinness Chocolate Chunk), and Linda Camera (Bailey’s White Chocolate Cheesecake).  The dessert winner will be decided on June 1 at The Battle of the Chefs event.  And, we’re all begging to know…will Chef Forrest Pasternack, Jeff Taibe, or Matt Storch win?  Come by and find out.

6/6 Burger Bar & Bistro in Norwalk is hosting a Cocktails for a Cause event to help support the great work of Bully Breed Rescue.  The fun starts at 7 pm.  Remember that good doggies are welcome at Burger Bar and there’s even a menu just for your furry friend. :)

6/8 The PopShop Market is back at Fairfield Theatre Company (70 Sanford Street) from 11-4 pm.  This time around they’ll be featuring Bodega’s cocktails in their signature Barcar, will have food from Fairfield Cheese Company, The Buzz Truck, and will feature lots of vendors.

6/8 Dishcrawl Fairfield County is back with their first ever Brunchcrawl through Downtown Stamford.  After your purchase your tickets ($45), you’ll be told which restaurant to meet at.  From there, you’ll try out a brunch dish, maybe have a drink, then head out to the next spot.  More info and reservations here.


Widow Brown’s Cafe in Danbury is hosting a 5 course dinner starting at 7 pm on 6/5 that features the beer of Sierra Nevada.  Tickets cost $65 and are limited, so call them up at (203) 743-7021.

Bistro B in Bridgeport has a $50 wine dinner on June 4, starting at 7 pm.  All four courses include pours of wine that highlight each dish.  The same meal will be duplicated on June 18 at their newly opened Westport location.

Farm to Trumbull is back on June 4 at Parallel Post in Trumbull.  This annual dinner series starts at 7 pm and will feature a great bounty of food from local farms.  Also on hand will be Chefs Dean James Max, Chris Molyneux, and Ali Gross along with Bootleg Greg who will be mixing up some killer cocktails to go with each course.  To make your reservations, please e-mail and make sure to mention us.  Also, be aware that there will be more dinners  on 8/20 and 10/8.

The Darien Farmers’ Market in the Goodwives Shopping Center (25 Old Kings Hwy N) will kick off its third week of being open this year on June 4.  The market is open now until Christmas (rain or shine) from 11-4 pm every Wednesday.  For more info, please visit their site.  

The New Canaan Farmers’ Market began last week and continues again this week on 5/31 from 10-2 at the Old Center School Parking Lot (corner of South Ave/Maple St./Main St.).  The market goes on weekly every Saturday, rain or shine, until November 22.  


Fairway Market wants you in their next commercial.  Apply now up until June 4 for your shot at making it big time on TV.  Note, you must be available on June 8 for the commercial shooting.

Stop & Shop wants you to share how you “Master the Grill” with a photo contest.  Just share your grilling masterpiece with them by using their contest app on their Facebook page or via Twitter using #GrillSnapWin_SS.  The winners, once a week from 5/19-7/3, will receive a $25 Stop & Shop gift card.  And, to top things off, a Grand Prize winner will be selected who wins a $500 gift card, an Own Brands Pack, and a recipe feature on Pinterest, Facebook, and Healthy Ideas Magazine.

CT Food and Drink News

Stamford Downtown has added Bounty Food Truck to their rotating lineup of trucks in Vet’s Park.  Now you can get Bounty, Lobstercraft, Melt Mobile, Firehouse Grill, Poutine King, Valencia, and Volta on a steady weekly basis.  More info and schedule here.

OEC Brewery in Oxford will have its grand opening on 6/7 at 12 pm.  OEC is located at 7 Fox Hollow Road in Oxford and will open with 6 beers on tap including Phantasma Sour, Tempus, Exilis Berliner Weisse, Phantasma, Zymatore Issac  Aged in Ransom SPirit Gin/Pinot Noir Barrels, and another brew that’s TBA.  Also, check out The Green Grunion…on hand at the brewery for your noming needs.

Shearwater Coffee Roasters of Trumbull just recently bought a Nissan Leaf so that deliveries of their coffee around CT are zero emission.

It seems that Rodizio Grill in Stamford has quietly shut its doors.  What would you like to go in its place?

    They’ll need something that appeals to the students across the street if they want to succeed. Houlihans and Rodizio were out of their price range.

    How bout a cheesecake factory where Rodizio was? Or even a TGI Fridays/Chili’s type chain

      Yeah, people really want a Cheesecake Factory in Stamford, huh? :) That place was a Houlihan’s before Rodizio, so hmm, don’t know. Maybe that spot is just bad for business? We’ll be interested to see what goes in its place.

    Rodizio is gone! Oh nooooooooo!! I loved that place, but it was in a tough location. At least we can eat delicious meat at Tango Grill, and if you need churrascaria, Copacabana in Port Chester is amazing.

    Also, Bounty will be down at Shippan Landing (the end of Harbor Drive) for lunch on Mondays and breakfast every day but Thursday.
