CT Food News, Vol. 11: Burgers, Lobster, Beer, and Cocktails…Yeah ‘Murica!

2 Jul

Although the USA might have lost that soccer game, you can’t let that stop you.  So, crawl out of that hole, get out there, and do something great this long weekend.  We’ve got some ideas for ya, of course, so stick with us kiddos…we’ll get ya there.  And, remember that we’ve got a full listing of events up on our Nomworthy Events page.

What says ‘Murica more than a burger, fries, and a beer?  Yeah, nothing!  So, why not get down to Versailles in Greenwich, and order their Bistro V Burger with hand cut fries and a nice cold brew for lunch OR dinner for just $16.50.  This is going on all month, people.

Now, those burgers are totally American, but how about lobster?  Get your fill and don’t be shellfish by heading out to any Rizzuto’s (Bethel, Westport, Stamford, West Hartford) for a Lobster Feast every Tuesday for the entire summer.   You’ll get a 3 course lobster feast for $29 per person…and if you’re super hungry, throw in a second lobster for just $10 more.

What?  You want MORE lobster and seafood choices?  Sure, no thing.  Match is turning their lunch today and tomorrow into The Lobster Shack.  For a preview, check out this post.

Fairfield Family Fun Fest will be taking place on July 5 from 10-4 pm…rain or shine on Town Hall Green.  There will be lots of live music, plenty of places to shop, and (damn right) food!  In fact, the 375th anniversary of Fairfield’s Founding will be even more special because PopShop Market will be setting up camp with shops, food trucks, and even a beer garden.  There will also be lots of activities going on if you don’t want to just stuff your face and drink…

Check out who’s back in the kitchen in Bar Sugo…Chef Pat Pascarella!  When you come by, make sure to tell him and Megan congrats on their recent wedding, then proceed to order boatloads of food.

Char, also in Greenwich, has just released their summer menu.  This is one of our favorite restaurants that you’ll definitely want to check out!

Two Roads Brewery in Stratford re-releases Via Cordis, a Belgian-style Single Abbey Ale today.  The beer, made in collaboration with two Sacred Heart University professors, will be on sale tonight on draft and they’ll even have a limited amount of 22 oz. bottles, so get there and get you some!  (Psst, a portion of sales go towards Sacred Heart scholarships.)

World of Beer in Stamford is now open and they’ll have live music on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting at 9:30.  Beer…you’ve met your match.

Help figure out who is the best bartender in Stamford by attending Stamford Magazine’s 2nd Annual Best Bartender Contest.  It takes place on July 9 from 6-8 on The Verano Rooftop, located at 750 Summer Street in Stamford.  Competitors include bartaco, Castle, F.I.S.H., and Hudson Grille.  There’s no charge for this event, but make sure to RSVP to Emily by July 7!

Where Your Food At?

Stamford Museum & Nature Center continues its Sunday Farm Markets from 10 – 2 pm all the way up until October 5.  Entrance to the Farm Market is free, but if you want to check out the rest of SM&NC, you’ll need to pay admission or present your card.  There will be eggs fresh from the farm, maple syrup, jam, beef, pork, and herbs from Aradia Farm (first Sunday of each month), baked goods, clams, chowder, produce, fruit, berries, cider, and even wool.  Oh, did we mention that there will be a different food truck there each week? ;)

Load up on great, local food for your 4th of July party by visiting the Westport Farmers’ Market.  And, remember that if you can’t make it, you can always arrange to have Fresh Nation deliver it for you!
