Hot Wings are an American gift, an American duty, dare we even say an American right? Yes, those hot and spicy little bites of heaven are on nearly every restaurant menu and seem to be the perfect accompaniment to a nice pint or six of beer. Whether you like the wingette, the drumette, like them with celery, with carrot, with ranch, whether you do that trick where you smoosh down the meat until it pops off the bone, it’s clear we all have our own ways to devour our Hot Wings.
However you eat those wings, you’ll definitely want to head out to Danbury on January 24th for the first annual Wing Fest! The event, $15 per person, is being held at the Matrix Conference Center (39 Old Ridgebury Rd) from 5-9 and will feature some of the area’s best wings. Once you enter, you’ll get 12 free wing vouchers with each additional voucher costing $2 each. When you’ve picked your favorite, just drop your Connecticut’s Best Wing token into your favorite restaurant’s bucket. There will also be a panel of judges who are doing blind tastings so that they can find their favorite of the bunch, too. Oh, and bring some extra cash for beer too, because they’ll be serving up 12 oz. pours of Half Full Bright Ale and Toasted Amber. One last thing: from 6-8, Super Bowl Champ New York Giant Jeff Feagles will be on hand signing free autographs.
