Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and, you know what that means: yup, time for the annual Chocolate, Wine, & Food Lovers Evening! This year it’s going down on 2/5 from 6-9 at The Marriott Hotel & Spa in Stamford. This event has been held as a way to not only help people find the best drinks, food, and desserts in Fairfield County, but to also give attendees a chance to pick up some great gifts at the Valentine Boutique or via silent auctions. But, the real heart of the event is the cause: 100% of the proceeds go directly to Shelter for the Homeless, a Stamford-based organizaton that serves Lower Fairfield County by “[P]roviding temporary housing to homeless men, striving to obtain permanent supportive housing and services for men and women tailored to meet their relevant needs, and empowering people to help themselves achieve their greatest level of self-sufficiency.”
Last year was so much fun, we talked with so many great people, ate so much great food and tried out so many new restaurants, drinks, chocolates, and cupcakes that it was well worth it. Tickets are just $60 and can be bought here, by calling (203) 406-0017, or online/at the door for $70 after 2/4.
If you’re feeling particulary lucky, you can win a pair of tickets from us by commenting on this post. Just tell us about one thing you do to help give back to the community or a cause that you care about. If you’d like, you can comment, instead, on our FB post that announces this event and the contest. This contest closes on Friday, 1/23, at 3 pm when we’ll announce the one random winner on our FB page.

I`ve donated time and money to The United Way. Their “Day of Caring” event is a rewarding experience to participate in. So many local causes benefit from it.
BTW, saw you guys talking about Paloma in Connecticut Magazine, very cool.

As an Ovarian and Breast Cancer survivor, I primarily support Ovarian Cancer Awareness. Most importantly, I volunteer for a program supported by the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance called STS- Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Womens Lives. We go in to medical schools and speak with medical and health professional students to help them recognize symptoms and risks of Ovarian Cancer when with their patients, so the disease can be caught earlier. Ovarian Cancer has no reliable screening test.

Barbara, congratulations on beating cancer, but also on being such a great supporter of awareness and helping survivors out. That’s amazing work that you’re doing and you’re definitely making a difference.
Thanks so much for sharing your story.
