Mercado: Street Food + Rave Takes a Bite Outta Stamford

Three60 Events Mercado Street Food Rave

When we went to Barcelona a few years ago, we checked out La Boqueria. It was an amazing experience with fresh food, veggies, and fruits that seemingly went on for miles aisle after aisle. And, mixed in around the mercado were restaurants that specialized in foods like pizza, empanadas, coffee, fresh squeezed jugos, seafood, and more. Well, Barcelona is a bit far to travel for that kind of experience, but checking out Mercado on March 1 isn’t so tough.

That’s because Mercado: Street Food + Food Rave will be taking place at Bank Street Events in Stamford. The nom-ing begins at three, goes until six, and there is absolutely no cost to enter. So, onto the food: there will be 18 restaurants and vendors on hand, serving up bites of goodness. Most restaurants will have two options for food (cash only), with most costing just $3-4 with nothing going above $5. So, you can go around, pick and choose, then create your own dining experience.

You’ll want drinks with that food, right? Well, Three60 Events who has organized this event, will have a cash bar on hand. And, there will also be a DJ on hand to add even more flavor.

As of 2/16, here are the restaurants and vendors involved:

○ Arezzo Restaurant and Bar
○ Barcelona
○ Craven Dawgs
○ Crystal Rock
○ Dough & Co.
○ EOS

Hi D&K. I looked for you both there. Despite the weather it was packed so maybe I missed you. Best of the event was GastroBar Stamford as they did an unbelievable simple Broccoli Sprouts Salad with Truffle Oil and Lemon which after eating the perfect Brisket from Ryan Cuber of Savory Smoke (your food demo at the BBQ event 2 years ago) hit the spot. Other standouts were EOS (Spanakopita) and Barcelona Stamford (Fluke Ceviche). Huge turnout. This is a repeat event for sure….

So great to hear that the food was great and you had a killer time. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it today. Thanks for the rrcap, Jeff.

Hi, this is an indoor event correct? Will there be parking available? I only ask because I know bank street is very small with limited street parking. Thanks!

Hey Kara. Yes, it’s indoors, and thank GOD! Man, that would be horrible dealing with this cold. As for parking, yes, you definitely need to find a spot on your own. There are plenty of side streets, though, so it shouldn’t be too bad finding one. Worse comes to worse, you park at Target and walk down the street. That’s actually probably the cheapest way next to street parking.

Quick question about this…our dining out frequency has been significantly cut down since we had our first son 5 months ago. My wife and I would love to attend this event. Based on your experience last year, do you think it would be infant friendly?

Hey Khurram, thanks for reading and commenting. This is a first time event, though Rob mentions that it will be very family friendly. I think you might be okay.
