Here we are with the first full week of spring, so you better get yourself in gear, get out there and conquer the world. We’ve got a ton of dinners, events, deals, contests, national recognition props, and beer news to getcha going.

3/26-4/5 Neighbor to Neighbor is hosting a PB&J Food Drive, arguably one of the coolest things ever. Brings jars of peanut butter to Diamond Hill U.M. Church in Cos Cob and bring jars of jams and jellies to Little Pub Greenwich.

3/27 Harry’s in Fairfield is hosting a Left Hand Brewing beer tasting from 4-7. They’ll be sampling their Milk Stout, Black Jack Porter, and Milk Stout Nitro.

3/28 Then you’ll want to come back to Harry’s from 1-4 with a special Kosher wine tasting, perfect for your Passover. Jeff D’Andrea of Brescome Barton will have a Barkan Merlot, Barkan Pinot Noir, Bartenura Pinot Grigio, and a Bartenura Moscato.

Turkey Bacon Deviled Egg at The Granola Bar in Westport, CT3/28 Get some culture and head down to either Balducci’s Greenwich or Westport between 2-5 for Cheesetopia. There will be demos, tons of tastings, and anything you could imagine that has to do with queso. Bonus: FREE!

3/31 It’s trivia night starting at 7:30 @ Craft 260 in Fairfield with our bud Nicole Edmonds. Plenty of great beer and food here, too, so stop on by! And, even if you can’t make this one, this goes down every Tuesday.

4/1 Bailey’s Backyard in Ridgefield continues its Tasting Menu this coming Wednesday . . . and every Wednesday. Four courses for just $35 per person. Get those reservations in, stat.

4/1 Ain’t no joke here, punks: The Granola Bar in Westport becomes a BYOB restaurant with NO corkage fee. If you haven’t been by for dinner, definitely check out what they’re up to: you will be pleasantly surprised.

4/2 Tavern 1757 in Seymour is teaming up with Dew Drop Inn for a 5 course dinner featuring the beer of Two Roads! They’ll be pouring out Workers Comp, Lil’ Heaven, Route of all Evil, Rye 95, and a special treat for dessert. Tickets are $60 per person and that includes a nice donation to the 2015 Relay for Life. 4/4 There’s a Riot on Summer at The Fez, starting at 9 PM. Mantyhose, Spectral, Fangs, and Headgun. No cover charge at all, either.

Deals and Contests

Tautog Tavern is offering up a Pat LaFrieda Kobe Style Short Rib burger for just $13. Put that on your grill and, er, grill it?

Meatball sampler at Bar Sugo NorwalkIf things aren’t super crazy at Kawa Ni in Westport, saddle on up to the bar and ask Beverage Manager Jeff Marron to play “Two Bottle.” You’ll pick two bottles of liquor, he’ll pick two, and he’ll make some awesome concoction on the spot for ya.

Chef Adam Halberg, Culinary Director at Barcelona, goes up against Chef Jose Adorno tonight at 10 PM on Food Network to see who can Beat Bobby Flay. Will Chef Halberg beat Chef Adorno and then take down Bobby Flay? We sure do hope so!

Taps at Two Roads Brewing CompanyPlan B Burger Bar was up against Bobby’s Burger Palace for the 2015 Burger Battle and they pretty much destroyed Chef Flay’s restaurant in the voting with 65.21% of the votes! Plan B. Up next against Plan B is Ray’s Hell-Burgers who just defeated BGR.

Boston Magazine compiled a list of the 21 best breweries in New England and, yes, two Connecticut breweries made the list! Two Roads made #12 (but we disagree that they are most known for their Ol’ Factory Pils) and New England Brewing at #7 (again we disagree that they are most known for their Sea Hag. Um, Gandhi-Bot? The WHOLE world knows about it now).


3/28 Firefly Hollow will be releasing bottles of their awesome Firefly Hollow Twinkler Barley Wine. And, for the first time EVER, get those bottles at select stores throughout the state. Oh hell yes.

4/2 Check out Craft 260 in Fairfield for a NEBCo Tap Takeover! And, when you dine in, they’ll donate 10% of all profits to Autism Speaks. 

Flight of beer at Firefly Hollow in Bristol4/20 A very appropriate date for the Sierra Nevada Cask Beer Dinner at Cask Republic in New Haven. This killer dinner goes down from 4:20-8:30 (LOL) and costs $65 if you buy your tix before 4/1. After then the cost goes up to $75. Get your tix by calling (475) 238-8335.

6/6 Ninety9Bottles Craft Beer Festival is selling tix now: you got yours, right? They’ll have more beer than last year with a dozen new breweries on hand. New this year is also One Bro. Pizza Co. who will be slinging some pies along with other food trucks.

Great South Bay, based out of Bay Shore on Long Island, just started shipping out cases of their Massive IPA, Blood Orange Pale Ale, Bay Lager, and Blonde Ambition right to CT! Strong Island, represent!
