Finally, after a tiny hibernation, the Westport Farmers’ Market is back! This not only marks a decade of back to back warm-air markets, but it also highlights their focus on keeping things local. It all began back in June 2006 when Paul Newman and Michel Nischan (he just received a James Beard Award for Humanitarian of the Year last night) started Westport Farmers’ Market.

And, my oh my how they’ve grown. What started as a 14 vendor market has quickly expanded to 45 vendors that feature farm fresh food, local pizza made on the spot, spot-on coffee, warm bread, quality meats, chef demos, and more! The WFM season begins on May 21 when it opens at 10 and goes until 2. You’ll want to stay around until noon when The Stand lines up some of their classic green juice so everybody can toast to health and keeping things local. Then, for the rest of the summer and throughout fall, you can come by WFM at 50 Imperial Avenue every Thursday from 10-2.
