Without reservation, when we’re asked where our favorite spots are in CT, we always mention The Fez in Stamford. And, when we do, we get one of two reactions:
1) What? Where is that?
2) I LOVE The Fez!
And, when 1) goes to The Fez his/her reaction turns into 2) after the first visit.
Immediately, we were drawn to The Fez after our first meal there. What stood out to us was owner Eric Monte, who is a walking wine encyclopeida. He had so many suggestions of great wines to try with our meal and even let us try a few so that we’d be happy with our choice. But, yes, The Fez is more than just wine. They have great drinks and their food selections are just killer, taking the diner up and down the Mediterranean, specifically Morocco.
Well, you’re going to need to wait a bit to get into The Fez starting on 5/31 at 11:59 pm. That’s because they are shutting down for about six weeks while they update, renovate, and get ready for a brand new dining experience. The updates will also include some menu changes and an extended wine and cocktail list.
We’re very excited to see what The Fez will be like when they are done and think it’s a great move for them. We always did love The Fez, but the room can defnitely feel cramped, especially when it’s packed with people at the bar and sitting at at tables.
And, of course, the much-admired and eclectic music program will continue. For more info about closing week events and to stay up to date with what The Fez is doing, check here. Also, check out our first and second reviews of The Fez.
