Ken Tuccio of Welcome to Connecticut Podcast held his first Beers at the Beach yesterday right at Calf Pasture Beach. It was a nice turnout and there were just enough people to make it feel busy, but not too many to create crazy long lines for beer and food. Speaking of beer, Aaren and Precious from Beer’d were there and brought some friends: Whisker’d Wit, 5.2%; 8 Days a Week, APA, 6%; House Divided, DIPA, 8.4%; and Get to the Choppa, Imperial Amber Ale, 9.1%. It seems that there was a consensus with everyone we talked with about two things:
1) 8 Days a Week was citrusy, bright, and the best of the night.
2) We just liked to say, GET TO THE CHOPPAAAAA!
Without a doubt, it was a great night hanging with our buds, throwing back some brews, and just enjoying the night. Barry Labendz from Kent Falls Brewing was also there. And, guess what he was doing there (besides drinking lots of Beer’d? Yup, he was checking things out because in about a month Kent Falls will be the featured brewery at the second installment of Beers at the Beach. Tickets go on sale starting at 8 am on Monday, 6/15. Unlike this past event, there will also be a VIP event where you’ll get to enter early and try an exclusive Kent Falls beer.
So, we know that we wrote about Kent Falls Brewing before they opened and we’ve said that we’ve liked their brews on social media, but we have a confession. We really like their beer. Like, really, really, really f’n like their stuff. They are putting out ridiculously good stuff that you need to get your hands on. So, hopefully you find some bottles at your local packie, try ’em on draft, and get to the next Beers at the Beach event.
Also be on the lookout in the near future for a detailed review of some Kent Falls brews along with a guided tour of their farmhouse brewery. Have a great weekend and a special shout out to Chef Plum, James, Food Dudes, Pam, Erik, Craftydrinker, and our new buds John and Jen . . . we had a blast!
