We already have September 18 at 7 pm blocked off on our calendar because that’s when the 5th Annual Connecticut Chefs Challenge goes down! Fairfield County’s best chefs will be competing at Lincoln Culinary Institute in Shelton to take him the much-coveted “Best in Show” title. What’s great is that when you attend, you get to taste everything and vote along side a guest judge panel. Tickets are not on sale yet, but you’ll soon be able to find them here and a portion of the sales will go directly to The Optimus Foundation that helps to construct and maintain medical facilities throughout the 203 for communities that need the support.
Last year saw Pasquale Poccia of Pasquale’s Osteria, Chef Phil of Fire Engine Pizza Company, Mark Vecchitto of Seehund German Pub & Restaurant, Chef Dan from Chubby’s Pub, Pierre-Andre Desruisseaux of Metric Bar & Grill, Jay Daly of Butcher’s Best Country Market, and Chef Plum of Plum Luv Foods competing for the top honors. And, in the end, it was Chef Mark of Seehund German Pub & Restaurant who won “Best in Show” for his Pan-seared Scallops with Taso Brussels Sprouts, Fire-roasted Fuji Apple Risotto, and Cider Reduction Drizzle.
Right now, the playing field is wide open and ready for contests. So, what about it? This is a callout to all of our chef friends, food truck assassins, and people that we’ve come to know through the blog. Can you handle it? Can you take the heat in the kitchen?
