CT Food News: Tequila, Food Truck Fests, Parties, BBQ, Wine, Food to Try, Props + More – July 23

The last week of July is around the corner, so it’s only right to sap every single tiny minute out of each day, right? Right. So, let’s go through a ton of events, deals, and foods to try here in Fairfield County and even beyond in some cases. Have a damn good weekend, people. 

Now-7/30 Pinkberry in Darien, Greenwich, and Fairfield is hosting Happy Hour, Monday-Thursday, from 5-7 pm. At that time you can get half off your medium or large Inkberry. Two new flavors that you might want to try are the Strawberry Margarita and Blueberry.

7/20-8/2 Taste of Hartford Restaurant Week is back with some crazy good deals on some great spots. Check them out here.

17/24 From 11-5 in Fairfield, New Haven, and Hartford Counties, request YOGO Fro-Yo Truck to come to your house, camp, or office! 7/24 It’s National Tequila Day, so you are going out to have some, right? To start, check out three spots here in Fairfield County: 1) Bodega in Darien and Fairfield, Paloma in Stamford, and Geronimo in Fairfield. All have crazy good tequila selections to be envious of. 

7/24 Check out the Downtown Sounds from 5-9 at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Shelton. There will be live music, food trucks, artisan crafts for sale, and lots of family events.

7/24 Bobby Q’s is heating up the night in Westport right on their roof top deck! Come for the BBQ and stay for Shakedown, playing live from 9-12!

7/24 Celebrate 1 year of Washington Prime in SoNo at 10 pm with some music by Deejay Dharma and cocktails. If you’re coming for dinner, be aware that there are two special seatings at 6 and 8. There will also be plenty of weekly specials available, too, so get on that.

7/25 Before you hit up Black Rock Farmers’ Market (they are open from 9-1), meet up with Joy Herbst who will start a Summer Soul Flow morning practice. Her class lasts one hour and costs whatever you’d like to donate.

7/25 Compassion Fest is a brand new fest and is totally vegan-friendly. It goes from 10-5 pm and will feature food, crafts, and live music. Stop by at 1253 Whitney Avenue in Hamden to get things rolling.

7/25 The Connecticut BBQ Cook Off is going down from 12-5 at Powder Ridge Park in Middlefield, CT. Entrance is $15 and that includes BBQ sampling and voting, free music, free lift rides, and a classic car show. Shoreline Prime Meats & Deli, The Meat Hut, The Mill at 2T, Taino Smokehouse, Knuckleheads, Fire at the Ridge, Battlewagon BBQ, and Black Bird Tavern will also be on hand to sell you some great food.

7/25 Annie Falk will be signing copies of her new book Hamptons Entertaining: Creating Occasions to Remember at Terrain in Westport from 12-4. Then, come back from 6-7 for a special cocktail hour with drinks featured in her book. And, finishing off the night, the fun continues with a menu prepared by Chef Alissa Svorka that has been inspired by Hamptons Entertaining. Both the cocktail hour and signing are free, but the dinner is $75 per person. Make your reservation by calling them at (203) 226-2732.

7/25-26 The Connecticut Wine Festival is pouring into Goshen over the weekend. Stop by to sample wine from CT wineries, enjoy some live music, wine classes, and nom away on some great food. Tix are $32.

7/26 Sip & Savor at PNA Park in Wallingford from 1-5 with food trucks like Get Your Irish On, Ruff’s Pizza and BAMA-Q as well as drinks from New England Cider Company and Thimble Island of Branford. There will also be cordials, live music, games, and face painting. Tix are $10 per person and kids 10 or under are free. If pay $15, you get unlimited alcohol tastings . . . that’s a crazy good deal, get on that! 

7/28 Sedona Taphouse in Norwalk will open! This new spot at 515 West Avenue will feature 50 taps and have 450 bottles and cans, too.

7/29 This Wednesday night and every Wednesday night at Bar Rosso in Stamford ladies get free Prosecco and 50% off mixed drinks starting at 7 pm.

Kick in da meatballs from The Local Meatball7/30 Gabrielle’s in Centerbrook is hosting a BBQ and Beer Prix Fixe Dinner. There will new 5 courses paired with the awesome beer of Brewery Ommegang. The meal is $65 per person, tip and tax included.

7/31 Mima’s Meatballs at 18 Mill Plain Road in Danbury is celebrating two years with $1 traditional meatballs and $1fried dough with your choice of sugar or sauce.

8/1-2 Over 50 food trucks are setting up shop at the North Haven Fairgrounds from 12-7 on both days. In addition to the food trucks, there will be games to play like archery tag, face painting, photo ops with your favorite superheroes, craft beer, wine, and cider, live music, and even more. Tickets are $5 to enter and parking is free.

Must Try Food and Drinks

There’s a drink you’re gonna have to try at the brand new Back 40 Kitchen in Greenwich. It’s called Killer Bees Knees and it features Barr Hill Gin, fresh lemon juice, and Red Bee Honey, all infused with Back 40 jalapeños.

Plan B Milford is featuring a Poutine Burger this week. That’s their burger topped with gravy, hand cut fries, and cheese curds and served on their popular pretzel roll.

Bar in New Haven has a limited time pizza available: Lobster Pizza . . . and it looks pretty damn good.

Mamoun’s in New Haven is now BYOB, so get to it, man.

    Great update! So excited to hear about Sedona opening so soon.
    Do you know if that food truck fest at the New Haven fairgrounds is the same as the one last year (with the looooong lines)?
