Mark it and mark it well: August 20 is when New Canaan hosts its annual Taste of the Town Stroll. And, while they are still keeping what has made this event a success year after year, they are adding in an awesome new event: the Lobster Roll Battle! To take part, come on down at 5 pm to New Canaan’s popular Pop Up Park. At that time, local New Canaan spots Baldanza, Cava, Fishtails, Fjord Fish Market, and Silvermine Market will compete to see who makes the best lobster roll in New Canaan. The judges are First Selectman Rob Mallozzi III, Executive Director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce Tucker Murphy, and Executive Chef of Elm, Luke Venner. Adding some more fun and excitement to all the action will be our buddy, Chef Plum of Plum Luv Foods who will be hosting this culinary battle.
Then, at 6 pm, the Taste of the Town Stroll begins! To get started, drop off a donation for the New Canaan Food Pantry. They are looking for herbal tea, coffee, canned fruit, peanut butter & jelly, dish and laundry soap, crackers, and pasta in particular, though they will surely accept other non-perishable items. And, if you’d like to help out even more, just head out to Walter Stewart’s Market and buy a grocery bag full of goodies for either $15 or $25 that will be donated directly to the NCFP! Just bring that receipt or the food donations to town and you’ll get a map.
On that map you’ll see the stores and restaurants that are offering up free samples. Visit them, drink and nom away, and hit up at least 12 spots then come back where you started and you’ll be entered to win some awesome prizes. To get another chance at winning prizes, too, you can spend $200 at any of the stores during the Stroll. Again, make sure to drop those receipts off at the registration table.
