CT Food News: Happy Hours, Free Food, Deals, Food to Try, + CT Beer – 8/14/15

Peoples, you better believe that there’s a ton to do here in CT and we’re doing our best to get you a crazy good list of events, deals, specials, restaurant news, and CT Beer schtuff. As always, feel free to check out our CT Food News post from last week for even more things going on. 

8/14 Harlan Social in Stamford is celebrating 3 years in business and will have $3 tap beers from 4-7.

8/14-15 8/16 Come by Miranda Vineyard in Goshen for a Wine and Chocolate Tasting starting at 12 pm. If this is your kinda thing, then check them out on FB because they have plenty of more tastings and events going on, too. 

8/14-30 Check out Parallel Post in Trumbull for their Seafood Summer Happy Hour Monday-Friday, 4-7! Deals include PEI Mussels in a lemongrass broth for $8 per pound, fish tacos for $3, grilled oysters at just $1 each, mini lobster rolls for $4, and a raw bar plate ft. 2 oysters, clams, and shrimp for just $9.

8/15 Hoodoo Brown BBQ is celebrating National I Love Cowboys and Cowgirls Day (there’s actually a day for that?) and is hoping to get you involved in the action. Just come in wearing a cowboy hat and you’ll get a piece of thejr Jalapeno Cheddar or Provolone Parsley for free.

8/15-16 The SoNo Arts Celebration is happening and there will be plenty of restaurants that have extended their patio for yoru dining pleasure: Local, Strada18, Donovan’s, Match, Chocopologie, and Quartino Trattoria to name just a few.

8/16 At either 11 or 1 at Mikro Beer Bar in Hamden, you can take part in the Smilow Closer to Free Beer Brunch. Each seating is just $35 and that includes 5 brews (Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest, NEBCo Sea Hag, Troegs Naked Elf, Jack’s Abby Smoke & Dagger, and Stony Creek Crum) that are paired with a four course brunch menu. And, as you can guess from the name of this event, they’ll be donating proceeds to Smilow Cancer Center. 

8/16 Don’t forget that Bar Sugo in SoNo is offering up unlimited Bloody Marys and Mimosas for $15 from 11-3:30 and is offering up 1/2 price bottles of wine all day long.

8/16-20 The Chelsea in Fairfield is turning three and will be featuring a 2 course lunch for $14.99 and 3 course dinner for $29.99. Score! 

8/18 It’s buck a shuck at The Spread in SoNo. So, how many oysters do you think that you can take down? 

Stew Leonard’s is now featuring Cannoli Donuts. Oh yeahhhhh!

It’s the moment that you’ve been waiting for: Hoodoo Brown BBQ in Ridgefield has opened their takeout window! You’ll go to the right of the restaurant, place your order, then pick it up smoking fast. Last night was so successful that they sold out of lots of items! 

Chef Justin Kern Kern at Meeting House Pub in Bethel has a sick deal for you to check out most Wednesdays: pay $25 and you’ll get a sample of 4 beers paired with 4 apps right on the flight! 

Vinny’s Backyard in Stafmord has a pizza that you just might want to try: their Porco-Applewood Bacon Speciality Pie! It features Applewood Bacon, Red Onion, Mozzarella, Arugula, and Balsamic Vinegar. 

Franklin Street Works has brunch from 8-5 and also allows dogs! We love dog-friendly spots. :)

Sedona Taphouse in Norwalk has Happy Hour Monday-Friday from 3:30-6:30 and that includes $5 draft beers, cocktails, house wines, sliders, flatbreads, and tacos. 

Cure Restaurant in Unionville is now open!

The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County was just recently awarded a $15,000 grant from The Community Fund of Darien! Click here to find out more about this vital organization.

8/15 The Bruery is coming to Cask Republic Stamford and New Haven. Oh snap! 

8/15 It’s gonna be a Hot & Sour Summer at OEC Brewing, the second version: Acidic Adventures! The brouhaha goes down from 12-7 and will feature Chief Broady’s Banh Mi food truck and an amazing variety of worldwide sours including some OEC originals like their Exilis, Albus, Tempus, Phantasma, Aeris Singularis, and Artista Zynergia: Oudilis. Here’s the full list.

8/19 Mark Brewer (yes, that’s his name) will be signing copies of his book Brewology at Willimantic Brewing Company starting at 4:30. If you don’t already own a copy, then you can buy one there on the spot!

8/22 If you’re willing to take a little road trip to DeCicco’s in Brewster, then you can check out DeCicco & Son’s 4th Annual Local Food Festival. The action goes down from 11-4 and that includes over 50 local food vendors including brewers, bakers (candlestick makers?), farmers, restaurants, and more! In addition, there will be lots and lots of sampling going down! 

Two Roads in Stratford will soon be offering rides to and from the brewery to the train station in their “12 Pack” beer bus. Cheers to 2 Roads for helping us drink responsibly.

Stony Creek in Branford now has some guest taps that include Black Hog, Citysteam, and Two Roads.

Hanging Hills Brewing Company is coming to CT. Like them on Facebook and check out their Kickstarter.

    Don’t forget about the Milford Oyster Festival on Saturday. Beer, Music and, of course, oysters!

    Hi Kirsten and Dan

    Sedona does great tastings on Sundays from 1-3pm at Waypointe on their 52 taps. Also http://cilantrostamford.com just opened where station eats was.

    Feedback has been good. Also looks like Del Frisco grill opens next week also at Landmark Square.
