When we go out to a restaurant and there are Buffalo wings on the menu, we order them 99% of them time. And, could you really blame us? Whether they are traditional or have a fun twist to them, we just can’t get enough. But, there are some rules for us. No matter what, the wings need to have a nice and crispy skin with a juicy, meaty center. It seems simple, but a good wing is hard to find.
But, we’ve got a new spot that we’re going to have to check out: Hot Rod Café in New London. They recently hit up the National Buffalo Wing Festival (there were 70,000 attendees!) to compete in the Traditional Medium Buffalo Wing Sauce category where 30 other saucy and stellar restaurants from across the country brought their A game. And, by the end of the competition, Hot Rod Cafe had finished in second place and took home the trophy. When asked about the win, owner Rod Cornish had this to share: “To take second place in the biggest wing competition in the country is such a huge honor for us. We are so proud to have represented New London and brought home this great win, not just for our restaurant but for our city,” he said.
