10/16-17 Chief Brody’s Banh Mi truck will be at Yale today at College Street before Wall from 11:30-3 and Saturday at Black Hog from 12-5.
10/16-18 The 2015 Glastonbury Apple Harvest Festival takes over the Riverfront Park . . . and you should be there. There will be over 40 bands, 30 food trucks and vendors, rides, the Angry Orchard Pub that will be swilling local beer and wine, fireworks on Saturday, a bicycle scavenger hunt and more! 10/17-18 It’s Harvest Festival Weekend at Stamford Museum & Nature Center! Come by Saturday and Sunday for cider demos, pumpkin carving, a costume parade, and a slew of food trucks! On Saturday you’ll eat with Cowabunga, Dos Cocos, Spuds Your Way, and Taco Loco and on Sunday you can devour Bounty, Dos Cocos, Have a Ball, Hot off the Grille, Melt Mobile, Pierogies on Wheels, Spud Stud, and Valencia Luncheria! Admission is $10 for a non-member or $5 for members.
10/17 The Mad Hacker’s S.T.E.A.M. Fair is taking place at the Danbury Library and Danbury Innovation Center from 10-3. There will be all kinds of awesome things like LEGO robots, Minecraft, and food options like Rymackee’s Cafe, Meat the Press, and StrEATery! Boom!
10/17 The WeHa Whiskey Festival is taking place at West Hartford Town Hall from 6-9 and will feature an amazing amount of whiskeys and bourbons. If you go VIP, expect some rare tastings like Pappy 15, 20, and 23! More details and costs can be found here.
10/17 is National Pasta Day! We suggest that you go out to Match or Bar Sugo in Norwalk to celebrate, or check out the fresh pasta at Bailey’s Backyard in Ridgefield, or even at Mill Street Bar & Table in Greenwich.
10/20 Beer and cheese? Um, duh! Just come by Caseus for the Black Hog beer and cheese pairing class from 6-7:30. Tickets are $45 and can be bought on the Caseus site.
10/27 Check out some of the awesome good for sale at Juliska in Stamford and, while you’re there, meet up with Christy Colasurdo, one of the authors of The Connecticut Farm Table Cookbook. She’ll be there with John Barricelli from The SoNo Baking Co. who will be hosting a recipe tasting. The signing and tasting goes from 11-2.
10/27 Head out to Barcelona Greenwich for their Cocktail Classroom on Infusions. The class begins at 7 and includes learning how to mix up some awesome drinks along with some snacks. You’ll learn how to mix up Summer St. Sling, The CLT, and Hot Dahlia. Food includes shrimp ceviche, fried focaccia with chorizo and manchego, and salmorejo and anchovy crostini. Tickets are $35 and can be bought here.
Food to Try
The Meat Truck is featuring a burger that you’ll want to get your grubby hands on. Holy hell, it has fried jalapeno, bacon jam, sautéed onions, applewood bacon, provolone cheese, and a chipotle sauce on top.
Elm Street Diner makes us feel fat just by checking out their Instagram page. The newest addiction that you’ll have? Pumpkin and Salted Caramel Donut Sundae. That includes pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin chocolate chips, salted caramel, walnuts, and some caramel drizzle.
We love Brussels Sprouts . . . and South End is taking their love of this veggie and turning it on its head. They are preparing caramelized Brussels, served up with Benton’s bacon and Parm.
Caseus of New Haven has released their fall menu . . . that’s definitely something you can easily fall for.
Colony Grill in Norwalk is just days away from opening. Make sure you’re following them on FB to keep up with the latest info.
Also in Norwalk and running through a series of soft openings is The Blind Rhino, right where Bradford’s used to be. Check their FB page for updates and info.
A bit further up in Black Rock where Viale used to be (3171 Fairfield Ave.) is TruNorth Tavern & Table. They are open now and will be open for lunch until 3 today and the weekend. Then, starting at 5, they’ll be hosting their first weekend dinner experience.
Lola’s in Downtown Stamford is now known as Cantina Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill.

Hoodoo Brown BBQ in Ridgefield has extended their dessert day deal of $1 off all desserts to the entire week. Put that in your pit and smoke it.
Before you head out to the Palace in Stamford, get dinner for two for just $60 as part of a Pre-Theatre Dinner. The prix-fixe menus are active from 5:30-7:30 and include FISH, Quattro Pazzi, Barcelona, Cotto, The Fez, Capriccio, Cilantro, and Bar Rosso.

10/20 Stone Brewing is taking over the taps at Coalhouse Pizza in Stamford! In addition to their stellar brews, Gerard and crew will be hosting lots of Stone giveaways. No, not actual stones like rocks, like Stone like beers Stone.
10/24 The 3rd Annual Pints for Paws is going on at Barley Vine in Bristol from 5 to midnight. There will be drink and food specials as well as a special cask . . . all to help our furry friends!
The Aspetuck Brew Lab is getting closer and closer to opening. They’re getting their tanks on Friday!
DuVig in Branford has bottled their Berliner Weisse and it’ll be ready for you to pick up on Saturday.
Have you picked up your can of Two Evil Geyser Gose from Two Roads and Evil Twin yet? It was brewed during a trip to Iceland a few months back and can be found in your local packie and bars now!
Relic Brewing will start pouring their popular Rococo, an imperial stout. In addition, they will have Eastern Splendor, an American Amber, their Pumpkin Porter, and a few more brews to warm ya up on this chilly weekend.
Powder Hollow Brewery has some brews on tap for ya: Caffeination Station, 1929 Prohibition Porter, Muddy River-Scantic Brown Ale, and their Early Morning Oatmeal Stout on Nitro.
