Here at OmNomCT we take our events, deals, news, and weekly guide to CT beer pretty seriously. Like, so seriously that we gather and pick through hundreds of items to bring you the biggest, the best, and the freshest things to eat and drink in Fairfield County and beyond. Just a note, we tend not to repeat items that we’ve already covered so as to not waste your time, but you can always see last week’s news items, our beer fests post, and our choice of an additional 6 Halloween bashes.
10/22 The Bee Foundation (bringing brain aneurysm awareness) is hosting a special guest bartender event from 6-8 at Gallo Restaurant in Ridgefield. The bartenders for that night are Susie Mendizabal and Hoodoo Brown’s own Chris Sexton. They’ll be donating 10% of all drinks right to TBF and will also be selling raffle tickets for $20.
10/22-25 The Brunch Box food truck will be right outside of 121 Towne Apartments in Stamford to help get your day started. They will be there today and tomorrow from 7-2 and Saturday and Sunday from 10-3.
10/22-24 Check out Melt Mobile, another food truck that we just freaking love. They’ll be at Vet’s Park in Stamford today, will be at Stamford High School from 5-8, and Greenwich High School from 4-7.
10/24 There are still a few seats left for Chef Pascarella’s pasta class at 11. Entry is $55 and that includes a pasta lesson along with recipes and a meal afterwards featuring the pasta from class. Check out more info here.
10/24 It’s the Hardcore Halloweenie Burlesque & Variety Show happening right at Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes in Oakville. Food starts at 7 with Green Grunion and Spuds Your Way, then doors open at 7:30 and you’ll be able to get some awesome beer from Firefly Hollow of Bristol. The show starts at 8 and will feature burlesque dancing (ooh la la), magic, shadow puppets, and more. Tickets are just $13, but you must be 18 years or older to enter.
10/24 Take a nice fall drive out to Hopkins Vineyard for their Wine & Cheese Festival that is going on from 11-5. There will be CT vineyards on hand offering up wine tastings and plenty of cheesy goodness to chow down on. Tickets are $23.
10/24 The Outer Space in Hamden is an awesome craft beer bar and they’ll be hosting their Oktoberfest celebration from 2-6 that will feature music, beers, and brats! There’s no cover charge at all, so just show up, eat and drink. Plans: done.
10/24 If you’re ever in the area, you need to check out the newly resigned and reopened Whole Foods in White Plains. They’ve added in a Juice and Coffee Bar and have also expanded their beer selection as well as dining options.. Stop by Saturday and there will be giveaways and in-store activities for ya!
10/25 Breakfast will be taken care of by the Stamford Lions Club today with their annual Pancake Breakfast. Food is available for $8 if you’re an adult or $5 for kids 8 and under. Just stop by Belltown Firehouse in Stamford from 9-1 . . . and don’t worry, they encourage seconds and even thirds.
10/25 Oh snap, it’s Porktoberfest again at Fleisher’s Craft Butchery in Westport! They’ll have whole roast hogs, German sausages, sides, and plenty of adult beverages for ya! You can get The Big Piggie option for $50 that includes all you can eat pork, a Porktoberfest mug, and 1 free beverage or food ticket. There’s another option for The Little Piggie that’s $25 and includes a mug and one free bev/food ticket. You can also go all in with some friends and buy a 10 pack of food/drink tix for $60 with a savings of $10.
10/25 Pop Shop Market is back and is hitting up Town Green (611 Old Post Road) in Fairfield from 10-4. Check out lots of local vendors and producers . . . and then eat the hell out of some awesome food truck fare. We’re talking about Bounty Burger, The Buzz Truck, Fryborg, Tipsy Cones, Snappy Dawgs, Have a Ball, Valencia Luncheria, New Haven Pizza Truck, The Spud Stud, and Lobstercraft.
10/26 Griff Anthony and Friends will be playing Little Pub in Ridgefield starting at 8 pm. You down?
10/26-11/1 Check out Wilton’s Fall Restaurant Week that features prix fixe dining and other deals. Some of the restaurants participating are Bianco Rosso, Cielo, Little Pub, Portofino, and Wilton Pizza.
10/28 The next two events are perfect for METS fans! The first one is a dinner with Doc Gooden. It starts at 6 pm and costs $79 for a four course dinner at Prime One Eleven in Trumbull. You could also pay $179 and get a chance to sit at Doc Gooden’s table if you’re a real, hardcore fan of the Amazing Mets. There are just a few seats left, so call them up at (203) 220-6615 for your spot.
10/28 Stop by The Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport for an enormous World Series viewing party to see the Mets in action! In addition to watching the game on their video board, they’ll have plenty of drinks and food available to make it a perfect night out if you can’t afford the $2,000 price of a seat at the actual game. Admission is free, but please RSVP to let them know you’ll be there.
10/28 Two Roads has teamed up with a few New Haven spots to bring you the Pints 2 Poltergeist Ghost Tour. You’ll leave at 7:30 from Ordinary and will go on a walking tour and learn about the haunted history of New Haven. You’ll also stop at Cask Republic and Tavern where you’ll get to try some Two Roads seasonal brews. Tickets are $32.64 and you can buy them here.
10/29 If you haven’t been to NoRA Cupcakes in Middletown, then you need to: and here’s a great reason: Paint Night & Cupcakes! You’ll be given two wine glasses that you’ll paint and be able to take home. And, don’t forget that it’s BYOB, so bring something nice to drink. And, yes, as the event suggests, they’ll have mini-cupcakes for you to nom away on! Registration is $45.
10/30 Starting at 8 pm, BBR will be playing Aji 10 in Norwalk. Try out a new spot, check out a band . . . great night.
10/30 Shaken, not stirred, thanks. It’s the Washington Prime 007 Martini Masquerade and you’re invited. The red carpet gets rolled out at 10 with no cover charge at all. 10/30 J House Greenwich is hosting their own Halloween Party featuring DJ Kunjan Collective and a costume party. The winner will pull down a $200 J House gift card, so dress to impress. 10/31 Bar Rosso is hosting their annual Halloween Party and there is no cover charge. If you come dressed up, you have a chance to win big with their costume party and contest that starts at 10. Prizes include $300 bucks and 4 New York Giants tickets! There will be a DJ all night and, yes, there will be drink specials.
10/31 Ain’t no party like a Fez party, people! There’s always killer Moroccan food and killer live music from The Grean starting at 9. In addition, there will be prizes for best costume as well as some special cocktails for the night. The National in Greenwich from Chef Geoffrey Zakarian is getting closer and closer to opening.
NoRA Cupcake Company in Middletown is opening up a second shop and will be spilling the beans soon as to where it is. Please be Fairfield County, please be Fairfield County. :P
Speaking of opening, Fortina has announced that they will be open in Stamford this week. Boom!
And, since we’re on the topic, Cask Republic SoNo is now open from their renovations and redesign from Ginger Man SoNo! Boom.
Don’t be afraid, Hacienda Villa in Black Rock has NOT closed. They are just changing the name to match up with their other spots in Stamford: Casa Villa.
Speaking of changes, Basso Cafe in Norwalk will be closed from 10/25-27 for remodeling. Remodeling what, you ask? Well, they’ll soon have their own wine bar with a nice selection of cocktails and beer, too.
Rizzuto’s in Stamford is now closed due mainly to location issues. We wish them lots of luck, but you can still visit them in Bethel, West Hartford, and Westport.
Wine Wednesday is, well, er, every Wednesday at Vespa in Westport. You’ll get 50% off bottles that cost up to $150. Pretty sweet deal.
10/22 Tonight at 5, head to Coalhouse Pizza with a few nice bottles of beer that you’ve been meaning to share. Yup, it’s their Bottle Share Night!
10/22 Happy 2nd Birthday to Firefly Hollow! And, how thoughtful of them: they are giving US the gifts! Tonight Steve’s Top Dogs will be there, Friday Ben Braddock of Hog River Brewing in Harford will be on hand to talk and share their collabo beer called Fire Water Rye. Also on tap will be their amazing Imperial Choconaut Porter and even a special cask. Ted’s World Famous Steamed Cheeseburgers will be on hand for your nomming needs. And, on Saturday there will be a cask of Neutrino Pale Ale and some BBQ from Low and Slow food truck.
10/22 Also going down tonight from 6-9 in Stamford is a Revival Brewing Tap Attack at Plan B Stamford that features Conga Imperial IPA, What Cheer Pilsner, Rocky Point Red Ale, Bushido Pumpkin Ale, and White Electric Coffee Stout.
10/29 Captain Lawrence is taking over the taps at Craft 260 in Fairfield and if you get there early enough, you can take home your own pint with some extra goodies. It all begins at 5 and will feature 10 CLB beers on tap including their amazing Rosso E Marrone, Gose, and Squash Berliner Weisse.
10/31 Check out OEC for Honey, I Fermented the Apples 2: A Cider and Mead Festival. It’s happening from 12-7 and features a ridiculous amount of rare and delicious ciders and meads!
Firefly Hollow will soon be canning their wickedly awesome Cone Flakes DIPA! Please, please, please, please hurry on this. :)
Fairfield Craft Ales which will open up next year in Stratford has just put in for its federal brewer’s license. Here we go!
