Beer gardens have seen a surge in popularity in Connecticut over the past few years. But, no matter which beer garden, there always seemed to be something that was just off: one was too small, one didn’t serve good enough beer, one wasn’t open all year round, one didn’t (insert your gripe here). Well, that’s about to end with the opening of T.H.C. in Derby at 77 Sodom Lane.

The Hops Company promises to kick ass and take names in the beer game here in CT with a crazy insane 4.5 acre beerTwo Roads Conntucky Lightnin' Beer Review, shot at Dew Drop Inn in Derby CT garden that expands to an outdoor bar . . . oh, and there is a 40 foot bar inside, too. Not only will they have some international brews (by the pint or flight), but they’ll also have other domestic and lots of local brews. How many? 36 in total! One of those brews they plan to have a helluva lot of is Black Hog Brewing of Oxford. Just a little tidbit here: Black Hog produces a series of beers called The Hop Collective that features a different hop each time. But, it’s more than beer on tap: they’ll also have wine + cocktails pouring out those draft lines. SICK!

When you’re there, you’ll no doubt drink the hell out of everything on tap, but just in case you were concerned, there are TVs, so you can catch all the action of your favorite sports team. Yeahhhh sports! And, when it’s time to eat and coat your stomach from all that Zuppardi pizza with sausage and peppersdrinking, make sure to order from one of their food trucks. As of now, they have two trucks who will be the main suppliers of noms: Ricky D’s Rib Shack and (our favorite pie!) Zuppardi’s Apizza! No doubt there will be more vendors added—if interested call them up at (203) 734-1618.

Come down today, 11/10, at 5 pm for their opening party with a ribbon cutting at 5:30. On tap will be such brews as Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock, Back East Porter, Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin, Brekshire Brewmaster’s Mosaic Wet Hop IPA, Black Hog Autumn Nugget, Founders Breakfast Stout, Guinness, Jacks’ Abby German House Lager, Kent Falls Table 2, New England Cider Company Fresh Blend Cider, Sea Hag, Ommegang Hennepin, Schneider Weisse Original, Sixpoint Sweet Action, Stone Double Bastard, Stubborn Beauty Secret Agent X9, Sweet Water 420 Extra Pale, Thomas Hooker Defiance, Two Roads Honey Spot Road, and even some gluten free beers by the bottle like Dogfish Head Tweason’ale and Omission Lager.
