Eat More Chicken: Chick-fil-A Plans to Open in Norwalk

18 Dec

Southern invasion.

According to Robert Koch of The Hour, Chick-fil-A is planning to open a restaurant at 467 Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk. The space will include a drive-thru if you need your chicken sandwich with pickle fix fast or you could sit down to a 126 seat spot. Koch does share that this isn’t a done deal, though, as the Norwalk Zoning Commission’s Plan Review Committee still needs to meet to discuss this on January 14. Let’s hope the fast food gods are in their favor.

For more about the plan for Chick-fil-A, be sure to read the article in The Hour. Once they do open, you’ll need to make sure to camp out because the first 100 people to enter the new restaurant will win one Chick-fil-A meal per week for an entire year! Details here

It was interesting to read this, I was just in the vicinity of this new site yesterday. In front of Town Fair Tire (where the old bank drive in kiosk used to be) they have been doing construction for a while. I hadn’t been by recently, but yesterday I saw a nearly completed building that most surely is a fast food restaurant with drive through. When I read this article, at first I thought that’s where you were talking about. Now I see that the Chick-fil-A will be where “Cooks Nook” is now. First, it will be a shame to lose a treasure like, if you’ve never been there and are a cook, you’ve done yourself a disservice. Second, now, what the heck is going into the Kohl’s shopping center?

What’s up Marky? So, the end of Cook’s Nook? We LOVE that store. No restaurant is worth that going away. There will also be retail stores in that complex, so I wonder if they would relocate there? :(

I don’t know if he could/would relocate. I got the sense that they could afford to be where they are because no one else would rent that old warehouse building they are in. It’s perfect space for “Cooks Nook”. I agree, losing them for any restaurant is not a good trade off in my mind, but “progress” marches on, especially on that strip of US1 in Norwalk. How long before Swanky Franks is bulldozed over in the name of “progress”? I notice the gas station next to SW has been torn down and a new structure is rising up. Maybe a newer gas station? Who knows?
