There is definitely no shortage of great things to check out over the next couple of weeks here in Fairfield County and beyond. So, sit a spell with us and check the best guide to food news here in the 203 and what’s new beer-wise  Always keeping it fresh, man. Stay warm this weekend!

1/23 Little Pub Greenwich is hosting the ETA Band starting at 10. We say pick the spot by the fireplace and get all toasty . . . and toasted on good drinks.

1/23 The Westport Farmers’ Market is closed for today due to the storm.

1/23 There will be chili specials all night long at Craft260 in Fairfield if you can survive snowpocalypse! You’ll have NEBCo’s Coriolis on tap, Goose Island’s BCS 2013, and Maine’s lunch . . . and you’ll get a free crock of chili with any sandwich or burger purchase.

1/24 Once you’ve dug yourself out your house and you’ve cleared the car off, head to Tomato Tomato in Stamford for 1/2 price bottles of wine all damn day.

1/25 Bar Sugo is open Monday night and is offering up 1/2 price wine, too!

1/25 Starting at 7 pm at Elm City Social in New Haven there’s an Iron Bartender contest. They’ll be mixing things up with Copperfox Rye and Wasmunds single malt whiskey. Check it out, enjoy some noms from Chef Brennan, and down the $8 drink specials.

1/26 Check out elm in New Canaan for a 5-course wine-paired dinner. Tickets are $85 per person (tax and tip extra) and can be bought by calling (203) 920-4994.

1/27 Head back to Elm City Social from 5-midnight to raise some money for the New Haven Animal Shelter. 10% of all sales will go to them and there will also be raffles, special cocktails, and promises of weenies. LOL.

1/28 From 7-10, it’s 2 for 1 drinks at Cantina Tequila Bar + Southwest Grill in Stamford. Buy beer, sangria, or Cantina margaritas and get a second one free.

1/28 Wagon Riders will be playing Walrus + Carpenter in Black Rock starting at 8:30. Saddle on up to the bar, have some drinks, take down some grub, and enjoy some tunes.

2/4 Executive Chef Geoff Lazlo of Mill Street in Greenwich is hosting an afternoon tasting at 2 pm. You need to register by 1/28 and the cost is $35.

Donut Crazy has released their Peanut Butter Explosion: “Chocolate Glazed donut topped with chocolate frosting, Reese’s puff, chocolate peanut butter and vanilla drizzle and dollop of peanut butter.”

Chicken Joe’s in New Canaan has closed and now, in its place, there’s New Canaan Chicken. Cluck to it.

It’s crepe-y hour at Volta in Stamford Monday-Friday from 3-9. You’ll get any savory crepe with a glass of wine for just 15 bucks. Oui.

1/22 Tidal River Brewing opens at 4 today with two new brews: Dogs Barking at Fences and Short and Punchy.

1/22-24 The Sloppy Waffle will be at Firefly Hollow Brewing Friday and Chompers will be there on Saturday. And, if you come by Sunday from 2-4, you can hear Aaron Mantoni.

1/23 Screw the storm, there’s a painting class with music, beer, and wine in store for ya at Scene Art Bar in Unionville! Deets here.

1/26 There’s a 5-course tasting extravaganza going on at Rooster Company in Newington. You’ll have 5 courses paired with Ballast Point brews. $65 tax and tip extra.

1/26 Starting at 6, stop by Dive Bar and Restaurant for a Black Hog Tap Takeover!

1/28 From 5-8, stop by Beer’d for their Roulette in Port Barrels release. The barrels are CT’s own Jonathan Edwards. Bottles are $14 per person with a maximum of 12 per person.

1/30 Turnpike Spirit Shop in Fairfield is celebrating two years in business with some great, free tastings! The major whale: 2013 Bourbon County Stout!

Aspetuck Brew Lab in Black Rock has tapped a special cask of Chocolate Stout for mug club members.

Relic is releasing lots of great brews this weekend that you’ll need to get your growlers filled with. They just released their Fore, a 10.5% Belgian quad aged on rum soaked plums, Double Dry Hopped The Huntress, and their Cygnet: “a creamy orange Imperial Oatmeal Amber.” Noms.

Thrillist doesn’t totally have CT beer it seems. They put out a list of the top 15 New England brews to try and NEBCo’s Imperial Stout Trooper made the list. BOOM.

Oskar Blues is releasing some new brews to CT shelves, so be on the lookout: Hotbox Coffee Porter and their Deviant Dales DIPA!

Two Roads in Stratford recently received two new 600 bbl fermenters. Hot damn that place is amazing.

Two Roads is also in the news for being including in Paste Magazine’s 35 of the Best Barleywines.
