5 Delicious Food + Drink Events to Benefit Local Organizations – March 2016

1 Mar

There is no shortage of great food events and charity-based fundraisers that are just around the corner, so we figured we’d put them all together in one spot for ya so you can go and do your thing. We’re featuring Tips for Kids, Chefs on Pointe, Rainbow Bagels to support Kids in Crisis, amazing auctions for Fine Food for a Cause, and the upcoming Fairfield County Giving Day.

Tips for Kids

The Greenwich Police Department Silver Sheild Association is hosting a “Tips for Kids” benefit night for Kids in Crisis on Thursday, March 10. On that day, from 6-9 at Sundown Saloon at 403 Greenwich Avenue, the Greenwich Police will be your servers, busboys, and bartenders. All tips that night will go directly to Kids in Crisis. As we have previously shared, Kids in Crisis lost $750,000 in funding due to cuts. Entrance is a $10 cover, but there will be live music, a prize drawing, hors d’oeuvres, and of course you’ll be helping out Kids in Crisis!

Chefs On Pointe

This Sunday, March 6, marks the 18th Annual Chefs On Pointe food and wine tasting! The event takes place at Old Town Hall in downtown Stamford from 5:30-8:30. The night starts off with a cocktail reception and a sneak preview of Sleeping Beauty, performed by The Ballet School of Stamford. The event’s emcee will be Frank Mastrone how is a broadway veteran actor and singer. After the performance, try out some food, dessert, and drinks from Stamford’s newest restaurants like Tavern 489, Noir Stamford, and Barrel House. Tickets are $75 per person or $700 for a table of 10 with profits going directly to The Ballet School of Stamford’s scholarship fund and outreach program, “Dance for All.”

Rainbow Bagels for Kids in Crisis

Upper Crust Bagel Company in Darien is also helping to raise vital funds for Kids in Crisis. During the entire month of March, they’ll be donating 25% of all proceeds from sales of their Rainbow Bagels. So, don’t just buy one, get a whole dozen or two and share ’em with your family and co-workers.

Fine Food for a Cause Live Auctions

If you didn’t get your tickets to Fine Food for a Cause, an event that benefits the Stamford Family YMCA, it’s too late because it sold out! But, you still have some great shots at scoring some great auction items that are live online this year! Oh, and there are some amazing items up for grabs including a dinner for 6 at the chef’s table at Fortina, tickets to Mets/Yanks games, a stay at a ski cabin, and so much more. Check out all the items here.

Fairfield County Giving Day

March 10 is quickly approaching, so we hope that you’ll be able to support your favorite Fairfield County non-profit. You’ll go to this site, find your favorite organization, then donate whatever you are comfortable with. The charities will not only receive the donations, but will also have chances at cash prizes such as for activity during the first hour (12-1 in the morning) or most number of donors.

Also, if you stop by the Fairfield Museum and History Center from 6-8, there will be Museum After Dark Giving Day: Brews & Bites. There will be brews from Two Roads, Kuhn’s famous chili, and plenty of more good food and drinks. Plus, there’s NO cost involved. In addition, two authors will be on hand to talk about their books that highlight the food and beer scene of CT!
