The 2016 Craft 260 Cask Festival is taking place at the Scandinavian Club in Fairfield from 1-5 on June 12 . . . and there are a whole cask full of reasons to go. Well, actually, more than 40 casks full of options. That’s because 20+ local breweries from CT and the Northeast will be on hand with two casks each. Both casks that each brewery brings will have the same exact base beer, but there will be two different recipes to create two different beers. Also, it wouldn’t be much of a beer fest if there wasn’t food involved . . . and lucky for you that Craft 260 which we gave a 3.75 Nom rating to, will be catering the event! There will also be live music playing all day including Hide & Seek and CT’s own The Alpaca Gnomes. Plus, it’s damn nice to say that they will be offering up a portion of proceeds directly to the Connecticut Fallen Heroes Foundation.
Tickets are $40 each . . . and you’ll definitely get what you paid for with all that great beer and food. But, let’s say you wanted to win two free tickets . . . well, we’ve got ya covered by working with Beerfests.com! Just tell us, by replying below, what one of the most unique beers you ever had was. It doesn’t have to be a cask, btw. For example, our most unique beer was right at the Dogfish Head Pub in Delaware. We had a beer that was brewed with stewed beef. It was actually pretty good with a subtle and oddly satisfying savoriness to it. The contest starts now and goes until 5/25 at 8 pm. At that time, we’ll pick a random winner of the two tickets and will update this post.

Most unique beer I’ve had was Genesee Brewery’s Salted chocolate Caramel Porter. Tastes just like one of those pieces of chocolate that you get from See’s candies or one of those type places.

I had a Saison brewed with flower petals at two roads a few weeks ago. It was subtle and delicous

A few I can think of was a cask version of Black Hog’s Coffee Milk stout that they added crushed graham crackers, marshmallow fluff and cocoa nibs to to make a Smore’s Stout. Also just got to try on a work trip New Belgium’s Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale, which was better than expected. Also Nautilus by Omnipollo a sour ale with vanilla, lactose and blueberries, that was interesting.

Eastbound & Down by J. Wakefield. This one was weird as hell! 7% abv berliner, with coffee and cocoa nibs added. Definitely a strange marriage of flavors.

Most unique beer: Kent Falls Anachronism
Made in the style of a traditional Grodziskie, but with more body and alcohol. Drinks like a wonderful, light and refreshing lager, but with gentle, smoked malt lightly clinging to the palette. Fun Drink

One of the most interesting beers I’ve had was Neo by the North Brewery. It smelled and tasted exactly like Neapolitan ice cream and I still have no idea how they did it. It was a small batch last summer and I’m hoping they bring it back this year!

Most unique and tasty beer I felt was the Easter Bunny stout at 4 quarters brewing in Winooski VT. They melted down chocolate Easter bunnies to be added to the cask. Real smooth taste. Thought it was hilarious as well.

The most unique beer I ever had wasome Ghost Face Killah beer brewed by Twisted Pine Brewery. It used 6 different peppers including the Uber hot ghost pepper. It was smoking!
