The 9th Annual Stamford Charity Chili Cookoff is just a couple of months away and slots for competitors are slowly bubbling away. If you’re interested in cooking up some chili and going up against other chili experts, email the organizer Joe Gonzalez.
If you just want the deets and to eat everyone’s chili, that’s still cool. It all happens on November 6 from 11-3 at Stamford Museum and Nature Center. Entry (TBD) gets you tastes of some killer chilis of all different varieties. As you taste, make sure to take some good mental notes, because you will be voting for your faves. After sampling some great food, take a nice walk around SM&NC and check out their Touch a Truck event, too.
Proceeds from the day will go to assist The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County and help to keep great programming at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center.
Here’s more from Joe:
“While most of our competitors are amateurs, we welcome professional / restaurant chefs as well! Contestants must provide enough chili to serve a taste to roughly 450 members of the public (11-13 gallons based on last year’s turnout) and a way to keep it warm. We provide spoons, napkins, tasting cups, and a 5ft banquet table for each contestant to decorate as they wish. Top three vote getters win a trophy and a cash prize ($50, $75 and $100). We are also working on some special prizes this year as well – stay tuned!
If you are interested in competing, please contact Joe Gonzalez at stamfordchilicookoff@yahoo. com no later than October 1. Limited contestant spots available!”
