Hello there our beloved OmNomivores! Oh how we’ve missed you!

We know, we know—it has been a while since we posted on the blog with the regularity you had come to love from us. So, it’s time to fess up why, share how we’d like to come back into all your awesome lives in the future, and get your opinion, because we do this for you, after all.

But first, you may be asking what prompted us to FINALLY write this post after all this time? Well, this year at our favorite event, The Greenwich Wine & Food Festival, we were greeted with the warm smiles and enthusiasm we always have been greeted with, but it was followed by a lot of, we miss you, please come back, omg we rely on you guys, and so on. It was SO NICE to hear all of that, but it also made us feel terrible . . . like we let our awesome food community and readers down, and, well, we just aren’t having it.

Ok, so why did we slow down with the blog? The simple answer? Food blogging requires a lot of eating, A lot of eating makes ya gain weight. Gaining weight isn’t healthy. You’ve seen us, we don’t know how to do this blogging thing in moderation. We love food. We love drink. We like to live for today. Go all in. Have a blast. So, we didn’t know how to do that and be healthy. Unfortunately, nether of us are those metabolically blessed assholes (we mean angels) that can eat whatever and be healthy and fit. So, we did what we thought we had to do. We stopped and focused our energy on fitness and healthy eating, and have both lost around 30 pounds each.

Since then, we’ve considered jumping back into the blog, but we were nervous. How could we do it in moderation so we don’t regress? How could we integrate healthier eating in a way that our readers wouldn’t be annoyed since they’ve come to love us for our indulgent ways? How could we let chefs and restaurants know that we can’t clean every plate of every dish they want us to try, but rather have small tastes? And how would we have the willpower to do so? So, we just sort of sat there like deer in headlights for the last year or so.

Ok, so now that you know why, we want to share how we’d like to get back into it. See, our new healthy way of eating typically means we enjoy one “treat day” a week on average. That treat day means we eat where we want, what we want. Because those days are so special to us, you best believe we try to pick only the best places and dishes that make all those amazing calories worth while.

We’d like to continue with our blog reviewing places we go on our treat days, and letting you know how worthy they were of our indulgences. They’d be the same restaurant reviews you’ve come to love, 2 to 4x a month.

In between that we would continue to use Facebook and Instagram to share random Fairfield County food news, photos, and info as it comes to us.

So, with this new approach, comes some questions we’d love your help with. We would LOVE if you could take a minute to give us your opinion on these questions below, either as comments to this post, or on our Facebook post when we share this.

We want to make our readers happy while maintaining our lifestyle and we can only do that with your voice! Thank you!

1) How much did you look to us for announcement of food and drink related event dates and info / calendar happenings?

  • If a lot, how did you prefer to see/get this information? (e.g. in calendar, as full blog posts, on social media, etc.)

2) How much did you look to us for food & drink proveyor news (e.g.a new CT based food or drink company (like granola, or honey, or Seltzer, etc.) now available in stores, or farmers markets or for purchase online)?

  • If a lot, how did you prefer to see/get this information? (e.g. as full blog posts, on social media, etc.)

3) How much did you look to us for CT craft beer scene news?

  • If a lot, how did you prefer to see/get this information? (e.g. as full blog posts, on social media, etc.)

4) How much did you look to us for “other” food information, reviews, etc. not addressed above (e.g. Farmers Markets, Grocery Stores, Meal Delivery, Spirits Stores, etc.)

  • If a lot, how did you prefer to see/get this information? (e.g. as full blog posts, on social media, etc.)

5) Would you ever want to read any healthy food related content from us? Like what we eat on our non treat-days, where we get healthy food options around here (both dining out and at home), what we do for fitness and where we go, etc.?

  • If so, please elaborate on what you’d like to see.

Thanks again OmNomivores! We will follow up after we hear back from a bunch of you awesome peeps!

This is a great update! I have missed you guys too! My guy and I are fellow foodies, who ironically have also gotten in to a healthy lifestyle this past year! We have lost weight and started back at the gym. We eat home and healthy during the week, but will eat out and enjoy some “free” meals on the weekends!
I am so happy to hear that you took a break, you got healthier, and you are back! Way to go! You look great!

Sorry, I am a little late but below are my answers…

    1) How much did you look to us for announcement of food and drink related event dates and info / calendar happenings?
Not a whole, lot. I rely on you more for new and exciting restaurants, places you have been, new openings, awesome dishes to try. But, when I do I read the blog posts more vs. social media.

    2) How much did you look to us for food & drink proveyor news (e.g.a new CT based food or drink company (like granola, or honey, or Seltzer, etc.) now available in stores, or farmers markets or for purchase online)?
Not a whole lot and again I read the blog for these types of happenings.

    3) How much did you look to us for CT craft beer scene news?
I love knowing what is going on with the CT craft beer scene. I will read full blog posts and I’ll keep an eye on social media. I am good for a brewery visit as well at least once or twice a year, so any good breweries to check out are always appreciated.

    4) How much did you look to us for “other” food information, reviews, etc. not addressed above (e.g. Farmers Markets, Grocery Stores, Meal Delivery, Spirits Stores, etc.)
I love all the restaurant reviews, dishes to try, places to go and see. I mainly rely on the full blog that I get as a weekly email because then I can save posts I like and want to refer back to.

    5) Would you ever want to read any healthy food related content from us? Like what we eat on our non treat-days, where we get healthy food options around here (both dining out and at home), what we do for fitness and where we go, etc.?
YES PLEASE! Bring it on! What have you been up to for the past few x amount of months to get healthy. A recap will do, nothing personal if you don’t want to dive deep. I get it! :-) Healthy dishes, exercise, restaurants where they have served great healthy dishes, places where they have a great walk, hike, salad, kale whatever, LOL, etc.

    Thanks for a great site.

First off. I missed you guys something fierce. I live vicariously through you both. I’m glad that you took a break to regroup. AND I think your plan will work for you. I was so worried when you stopped posting. Now on to my answers to your questions.

    1. I used to check your blog almost every day for this information. I rarely check Facebook since I have to scroll so much to find what I am looking for. I find that when I check any social media for any type of information I get much more information than I bargained for and it takes way too long.
I would prefer this information in some kind of calendar format.

    2. Prefer blog posts.

    3. I don’t look for this information from you. It’s nice to have, but I usually find this out from breweries, beer bloggers and friends. I attend lots of beer events on a regular basis

    4. I do like this information, but it is not vital to me.

    5. I absolutely would love to read about healthy food related content. It’s always interesting to find new places to shop for healthy food. Definitely interested in dining out options.

I prefer any of the above information to be in your blog. Although it might be easier in some type of newsletter format that we could subscribe to.

Again, welcome back. You were greatly missed.
By the way, you both look fabulous.

Hey guys …#1 thanks for the photo credit!!!

#2 I think why people read you is yes for the information but I think mostly it’s because of you both’ your lifestyle your personalities! You are kind of like celebritiy bloggers not just food or community bloggers! People are interested in you! When I first started reading and following OmnomCT it was because you are a couple who enjoys life and the journey together! So to me you are not just food bloggers! As I saw you start to change your ways and watch your fitness videos I started to feel inspired! So I think OmnomCT can be an all around life style blog? What work out classes to go try? What Golfing is like and what courses are the best? Fitness clothes that make you feel good? What you eat on healthy days and non healthy indulgent cheat days! And social media update on events and why we should go even if you can’t make it. …. fashion is everything and food and fashion go hand in hand … I love looking cute and eating out! Sooooo I know you got that covered … write about it all!!!! :) videos and posts away my loves!!! Can’t wait to continue working together is a much more often way!!!

Aww thank you so much Elisa! We always have loved and appreciated your enthusiasm and support! We’ve considered this so many times but always worried if our readers really wanted any of this. It’s great to hear this from you and others. We will definitely start to branch out a bit in the healthy eating and fitness areas to start for sure as it works so well with OmNom’s brand. We’ll see where it goes from there, who knows?! That’s half the fun, right?

    1. Food events are always fun, it just depends on my schedule if I can attend.
    2. New food businesses are always fun to know about and new restaurants too.
    3. I’m not a big beer drinker so this doesn’t apply to me too much.
    4. Ditto to above.
    5. Healthy faire – most definitely, being a vegetarian and just in general trying to stay healthy (I’m with you about the slow metabolism) I’d love to know about food options.

Maybe add in some of your fitness and weight loss tips?

Good luck and congrats on your healthy lifestyle and weight loss!

    Hello,

I just have to have to say congrats to you both for doing the healthy thing!

My husband started his weight loss journey in 2016 and lot over 30 pounds.

It was so funny to review this email today as we were having dinner at one of new favorite places, Shu in Fairfield – an amazing Chinese restaurant and I was thinking I haven’t seen an OmNomCT post in awhile. Then like magic here was your post.

Maybe we should all buy lottery tickets.

Keep up the great work with the healthy eating and weight loss. Keep continuing to try these new places.

    Best, Ivy Gosseen
