24 Restaurants Take Part in 2016 Orange Restaurant Week

An entire week devoted to deals on food at some great spots! Read on for more details including how to win big . . .

Today starts the 2016 Greater Orange Restaurant Week . . . and you’ll definitely want to be a part of the action. Not only are 24 restaurants from Orange, Milford, West Haven, and Woodbridge involved, but you’ll also great prix fixe deals for lunch or dinner. But, hey, why stop there? How about taking home some great prizes and gift cards . . . over $2,000 is up for grabs! We’ve included the directions at the end of this post for you. And, because a meal isn’t a meal without a nice beverage, there will drink specials at each spot.

Farmstand Fishery @ Whole Foods Fairfield Ft. Lobster Rolls, Oysters + More

Whole Foods Market in Fairfield is hosting a great event for everyone who just can’t get enough seafood in their lives. And, if you’re like us, you’re mollusk-mad no doubt. The event we speak of is an outdoor festival that they’ll be setting up over the weekend called Farmstand Fishery. There will be local fishmongers selling their freshly caught fish, shucking oysters, and showing off their filleting techniques. All you need to do is just stop by Whole Foods on Saturday, July 25. 

Gettin’ Slap Happy off o’ Pappy – Plan B Milford

We’re sure that we had you right at Pappy Van Winkle, so let’s just get down to things right away, huh? Plan B Milford hosted a Pappy Dinner and damn right we got our tickets within minutes of them going on sale. See, we learned our lesson from last year when Plan B Stamford hosted a Pappy dinner and Milford held a Buffalo Trace + Pappy Dinner, and they sold out in like an hour or something crazy like that. After all, many people say it’s the best bourbon you’ll ever taste, so it’s really no surprise.

If there’s something that we’ve figured out about Plan B, and specifically Plan B Milford, when they set their minds on something, they destroy it.  Like, seriously…they kill it.  Case in point:  The Third Annual Bacon Week at Plan B Milford.  Want a bucket of bacon?  Done!  Want to eat a “healthy” Swine salad, bacon candy bars, or bacon candy apples?  Done, done, done! Want to add bacon to anything on the menu?  Done!   Even more killer?  They’ve infused bacon into their mixed drinks, too!  So, without further delay (we know you’re probably sitting in a puddle of drool now), here’s the menu along with the cocktails that you’ll get to devour September 15-21:

Ain’t No Fantasy: Plan B Milford Hosts Game of Thrones Beer Dinner and Finale Screening

Plan B Burger Bar has been killing it lately with great events and dinners…much like George R.R. Martin, writer of Game of Thrones.  While we promise that Martin has no part in who lives and who dies at a special GoT dinner at Plan B Milford, his handiwork will be the focus of the night.  That’s because on June 17 from 6-9 you can partake in The Feast, featuring GoT brews from Ommegang, six courses of food, and a special screening of the finale.  Tickets are $60 and you can buy them here.

G. Garvin hits up Mama’s Boy this Wednesday, 5/21…

G. Garvin has made it his personal mission to find a ‘lil bit of the South wherever he goes for his show Road Trip with G. Garvin…including Connecticut.  He recently stopped by three places in the Nutmeg State that ooze that Southern charm and keep the diners coming back for more.  His first stop is The Corner in Milford, which is known throughout the state for their killer breakfasts.  From there, G. Garvin hits up Mama’s Boy Southern Table & Refuge in SoNo, a new restaurant that has been winning over diners in the past year.  And, finally, he stops by Sandra’s Next Generation in New Haven to check out some authentically amazing Southern fare.

SBC and Willimantic Brew CT Beer Week Signature Beer: White Willi

Introducing…the one, the only…White Willi.  It’s a collabo between Dave Wollner of Willimantic Brewing Company and Mark DaSilva of Southport Brewing Company.  They met at SBC Stamford just yesterday to get the brew started.  This bad boy will be a beautiful, sessionable beer.  Here’s a bit more about it:

2014 marks the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby, the Indy 500 of the horse-racing world.  As we mentioned in our post about the special Kentucky bourbon tasting at Harry’s, the derby is really just an excuse for people to dress in huge ass hats and wear lots of Vineyard Vines and searsucker suits.  But, you can’t just get all dressed up and all fancy looking then stay at home.  Psssh, what fun would that be?  You best believe that we’ve got to help you out a bit.  So, here are three really exciting and adventurous things to do on Derby Day…hideous hat not necessarily included.

For an entire year, talented mixologists throughout Connecticut have fought hard to make the best cocktails at Plan B Milford’s Iron Bar competitions.  And, through their skills 12 of them have made it to the final stage:  The Iron Bar Gala.  One winner will prevail, win $1,000 in cash and get a trip to Kentucky with the Plan B crew!
