22 Sep

We’re giving you notice way in advance here, so take advantage of this:  10/25 from 5-10.  Set it aside for an awesome Halloween party that just so happens to include lots of beer.  That’s when Half Full Brewery in Stamford will be throwing their 3rd Annual Halloween Bash which serves dual purpose as their 2nd anniversary celebration! Like last year, Oh Cassius! will be back, and did we mention that there will be beer? Yup, they’ll have at least 8 of their brews on tap open to you all night long including their nummy Pumpkin and their Rum Pumpkin, too! They’ll have their life-size Jenga out for playing and will also have a tent so you can sprawl out and have the best time ever.  In addition to all the games, music, and beer, you’ll also get your own trick-or-treat bag filled to the brim with awesome Half Full goodies such as cozies, pint glasses, key chains, and stickers.

Ease into Fall w/ Fairfield County Farm Workshops, Dinners, and Events

3 Sep

Farms are what keep us rooted to our humble beginnings, they keep us in touch with nature…farms are what keep us alive.  And, while most people probably only have surface level interactions with farms by purchasing their foods at stores or getting a bit closer to the source by visiting farmers’ markets, farms have lots going on behind the scenes.  The sowing, the planting, the watering, the manicuring, and the picking.  And, there are plant-y of other things going on at farms, depending on the season.

So, this is where we leave you:  some great events, workshops, and dinners at farms in September and October for you to dig.

Black Hog Brewery: The Sobocinski Bros and Tyler Jones Go Hog Wild – Oxford, CT

1 May
Yes, please...

Amen.

Black Hog, a nickname for the Berkshire pig…arguably one of the best tasting meats around.  The name conjures up pig roasts, people coming together as a community, and celebrating over some brews.  “The slower and the lower, the better it is for cooking Berkshire pig.  I’ve had pig roasts for both of my kids birthdays.  They are respectful because we use the whole animal and it’s communal.  That theme, that idea of community and celebration…that’s what we want to propagate,” proudly shared Jason Sobocinski, one of the owners of the brand new Black Hog Brewing Co. that is opening up this summer in Oxford.  Also, with an equal part in the brewery is Jason’s brother Tom who owns Caseus with Jason and Headbrewer Tyler Jones.

We had the chance to talk with Jason about Black Hog, Tyler, the brewery itself, their beer, the beer community in CT, and their plans for the future.  So, sit back, sip on a cold one, and check out why we are so damn excited for this brewery.
