Oh yes, it’s almost time to open! Photo from MIRO Kitchen FB page.

We’ve been following MIRO Kitchen for a bit, but we’re happy to share some great news that we got just got from owner Eugene Kabilnitsky: they’re opening soon. Oh, and it’s gonna be a great spot to check out! That’s because the menu will feature the food of Hawaii, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Hong King. We’re talking Pacific-style tacos, Asian-inspired small plates, family style plates, killer salads, and great sides . . . and those flavors are coming from a familiar face or two. Continue reading

Co-founder and chef, Tony Rosenfeld of b. good

Chef Tony Rosenfeld (also co-founder) of b.good putting together a Farmstand Tomato-Basil Kale & Grain Bowl at The Westport Farmers’ Market

We took a trip Portland, Maine a couple of weeks ago and devoured so much food (surprising, right?) One of our favorite spots that we checked out was The Holy Donut, which uses potato and sweet potato in their donuts. Holy crap, people: amazing. And, just a few doors down is b.good, a restaurant that we learned about a month ago when we were walking through Greenwich and saw that it was opening up on the avenue.  Continue reading

Fairfield Cheese Company Cheese School

If going to school involved tasting samples of cheese, drinking cider and wines with said cheese, and diving into beautiful pairings like chocolate, then most of us out there would have at least a few doctorates. Ammiright? Well, it’s back to school for you because Fairfield Cheese Company and the newly opened Greenwich Cheese Company have an awesome selection of classes for the turophile (yeah, so we looked it up, so what?)

The Cheese Menu for Christmastime at Greenwich Cheese CompanyHere are the listings and descriptions from their site, people. Now, all you need to do is just click through and buy your ticket, now available through Eventbrite. All classes are at 7 pm, but the prices are either $40, $45, or $100 for an Oktoberfest dinner! Two CT Hot Dog Joints Top The Daily Meal’s Top 75 Best Hot Dogs List

17 Jul

People tend to look to CT for killer pizza pies and legendary seafood, but we often don’t get enough credit for another of our great strengths: hot dogs. Yup, we’ve got some great spots that are grilling up and frying wieners all day long and it’s great to see that national outlets recognize us. And, although only 2 spots from The Nutmeg State got on The Daily Meal’s “America’s 75 Best Hot Dogs” 2015 list, we landed near the top.

Mecha Noodle Bar Slurps Up Pasta Nostra Spot in SoNo

9 Jun

Big news for SoNo: South Norwalk Buzz just reported that Mecha Noodle Bar of Fairfield will be opening up a second spot and taking over the Pasta Nostra space at 116 Washington Street. Not only will this be a big game changer in SoNo by adding more variety of food, but it helps to keep the dining scene alive more than ever. With this expansion, this marks the third restaurant from the same owners including Pho Vietnam in Danbury. We don’t have any more information at this time, but when we do, we’ll be sure to share it with you. In the meantime, you’ll just need to practice your slurping and your ramen skills at their other two spots.

Oh, and if you’re wondering what has happened to Pasta Nostra, don’t worry devotees: it’s evolving and will soon reopen down the street at 20 North Main Street as Bruculino.

CT Cask Fest Tapping 36 Casks, 18 CT Breweries – Fairfield, CT

23 Mar

CT Cask Fest

Two places that we love in Fairfield, Craft 260 and Harry’s Wine & Liquor, have teamed up to create a killer beer festival! Check out how sick this is: 18 Breweries from Connecticut will be bringing two casks each. The awesome thing about this is that each brewery will start with the same base beer, but both casks from each will be different with spices, hops, and other add-ins. So, it’ll be an interesting experiment to see how breweries can change the taste of a brew by just adding in different ingredients and methods.

Craft260 1st Anniversary Dinner

Craft 260 will be celebrating a year of making good food and serving killer beer on 2/16, starting at 6:30. Well, guess they are just overachievers because they put together a birthday dinner that features more beers than courses. Yeah, that’s pretty awesome. 7 brews from Two Roads, 5 courses to be paired with the Stratford-made beer.
