Anthony Bourdain is coming to the Grand Theater @ Foxwoods Casino on October 8 . . . and we’ve got your shot at not 1, not 2, not even 3 pairs of tix. We’re talking 4 pairs of tix up for grabs! Anthony will come on stage at 8 . . . and that’s when The Hunger tour begins in CT. Now, just a note: this is the only stop in CT, so if you’re planning on seeing him, this is your shot!

Here’s more about The Hunger tour:

Chef, author, and raconteur Anthony Bourdain is best known for traveling the globe on his stomach, on his TV show Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. He has established himself as a professional gadfly, bête noir, advocate, social critic, and pork enthusiast, recognized for his caustic sense of humor worldwide. He is as unsparing of those things he hates as he is evangelical about his passions. The Hunger serves audiences an all new live show featuring an unyielding, brutally honest monologue reflecting on diverse culture, street cuisine and his travels to lesser-known locations around the world, followed by an open Q&A session. Currently filming the hit CNN original series Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown (season seven premiered Sunday, April 24; 9pm ET/PT), Bourdain will bring audiences a menu loaded with lots of laughs, serious discussions and unapologetic irreverence. We recently were able to interview one of our favorite chefs who is also a Nutmegger: Michel Nischan. We’ve loved his food, but even more than that we love what he stands for and how hard he works as CEO of Wholesome Wave to make change in the world. He’s the kind of person that inspires us to be better people and to help make change in our own worlds, too. So, here it is: a look into some of the changes that he’s most proud of making, what he’d still love to fix, sailing the Mediterranean, spontaneous dinners with Jose Andres, his favorite restaurants in CT, and what he first wanted to do with his life. After reading this insightful interview, make sure to set plans to see Michel at this year’s Greenwich Food + Wine Festival!

OmNomCT checks in with Alex . . . don’t miss her at this year’s Greenwich Wine + Food Festival! Picture courtesy of Alex Guarnaschelli.

Chef Alex Guarnaschelli has become synonymous with Food Network, and there’s good reason: she’s an integral part of their food programming. Whether it’s through her culinary prowess as an Iron Chef, her show Alex’s Day Off, dishing about her favorite eats of all time on The Best Thing I Ever Ate, or throwing down her expertise as a judge on shows like Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay, Chef Guaranschelli’s resume speaks for itself. In addition, she’s executive chef of Butter in NYC which brings in stellar reviews and press.

We recently had the chance to interview Alex and talked to her about her most difficult challenges, what she really does on her days off, the importance of social media, a sneak into her recipe creation process, and more. Don’t forget, you can see Alex at this year’s Greenwich Wine + Food Festival. She’ll be hosting a sustainable dinner along with Marc Murphy which includes local chefs, she’ll also be a judge during the Burger Battle, signing copies of her book at 2:00, speaking at 1:30 in the Green Room, and cooking up an amazing demo at 3:00 at Dacor Kitchen Two.  Continue reading

Chef Greenberg went for his third win on Chopped last night. How did he fare against his other 3 competitors? Photo from Food Network.

“It’s never a walk in the park. My last competion I made mistakes. So, I want to convert those mistakes into masterpieces.” -Chef Adam Greenberg, Barcelona on Chopped.

Winning Chopped on The Food Network is never an easy thing . . . even just getting on the show isn’t an easy thing. But, how about winning Chopped twice then being placed into the Chopped Grand Champions round where a prize of $50k is at stake? Yeah, you have to be an amazing chef who’s versatile in the kitchen to get that far. Continue reading

Chef Carlos Baez of The Spread Vows to Beat Bobby Flay on Food Network

4 Feb

If you’ve ever had the chance to meet Chef Carlos Baez (pictured top left) of The Spread, the first kind of words that might spring up at you are kind, smiling, generous, reserved and creative . . . but how about dogged, uber-concentrated, and competitive? Well, we had a chance to see his tougher and rougher side when he recently competed against other chefs in the CT Chefs Challenge event. He was laser-focused on his sous chefs and dish that wowed the judges. Baez has also had lots of other success with food contests like Chowdafest. Continue reading

A Salute to Geoffrey Zakarian’s The National – Greenwich, CT (Review)

28 Nov

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

When we interviewed Chef Geoffrey Zakarian back in September about his new restaurant coming to Greenwich, his confidence, enthusiasm and dedication made us SUPER eager to try it out and see if all that energy translated to an amazing experience. So, when The National finally opened, located at the bottom of The Avenue in Greenwich, we had to get our butts in there STAT to find out. And, like the dedicated food bloggers we are, we hit up Fairfield County’s newest restaurant on Thanksgiving Eve with our friends, John, and Jenn. Because what’s wrong with two days of gluttony in a row, right? Continue reading
