Beer gardens have seen a surge in popularity in Connecticut over the past few years. But, no matter which beer garden, there always seemed to be something that was just off: one was too small, one didn’t serve good enough beer, one wasn’t open all year round, one didn’t (insert your gripe here). Well, that’s about to end with the opening of T.H.C. in Derby at 77 Sodom Lane.

OmNomCT Tries Marley Spoon Meal Delivery + Exclusive 30% Discount for Readers!

Marley Spoon‘s recipe for success is pretty simple: take some great quality ingredients, pack them up in a box with ice packs and easy to follow directions, and ship them out for your enjoyment. About 6 months ago we were drawn to this kind of approach when we started using Blue Apron, another meal delivery service, so we were totally onboard when Marley Spoon reached out to us to try their service.

Marley Spoon is organized by Culinary Director Jennifer Aaronson who was Martha Stewart’s Editorial Director of Food & Entertaining and offers a similar service to Blue Apron, but with one major difference: Marley Spoon sends leftover ingredients (after they pack all their customers’ boxes) to City Harvest, which helps feed more than 1.4 million NY’ers who don’t have enough to eat. As if that weren’t awesome enough, their food is pretty awesome too, with ingredients that come from local farms, artisan shops, vendors, and butchers. Ok, so let us break it down for you . . . Giada De Laurentiis New Cookbook Happy Cooking

Giada De Laurentiis has always been one of America’s favorite TV chefs. We all love watching her wash her hands, moaning as she eats, and the gratuitous revealing close-up shots, and of course her unique take on Italian recipes. All kidding aside, we’ve actually made many of Giada’s recipes for holiday dinners and they’ve always turned out to be some of the favorite dishes of the night. Continue reading

One of the things that we love about craft breweries here in CT and across the country is their appreciation for each other and how they often collaborate with each other. Over the past few years, this beer fest has grown into a complete beer-beast of its own, drawing people from all over CT and the surrounding states who are ready to try some of the best beers in the Northeast and nom away on some killer food.

Beer’d Brewing Makes Fairfield County Debut at Coalhouse; More Meet the Brewers Nights Planned

7 Feb

Beer’d Brewing, based out of Stonington, has been on our bucket list of CT breweries for quite a while. The good word on the streets is that they have some of the best beer in the state, but we’ve never even had the chance to try it. Our problem: it takes about 2 hours to get there from Greenwich. We are planning to hit them up in April while we’re hitting up Saybrook Point Inn to check out a food-centric weekend of awesomeness.

Getting Down n’ Dirty with J. Timothy’s Dirt Wings – Plainville, CT

26 Jan

J Timothy's Collage OmNomCT

When we launched ourselves into the Twitterverse back in 2010, we quickly made friends with J. Timothy’s Taverne in Plainville. We quickly realized that they not only know a helluva lot about beer, but they know even a whole lot more about wings. In fact, year after year they became more popular for their legendary Dirt Wings, and we became correspondingly more ravenous for them.
