Connecticut Harvest Jam is just a week away and we wonder if you’re even ready? Seriously, have you even prepared? Where is your red flannel shirt, guys? Ladies, where are your Han Solo vests, leggings, and boots?
But, even if you haven’t prepped for the start of fall, you should still hit up the Connecticut Harvest Jam at Ives Concert Park in Danbury on 10/10 from 2-8. Brought to you by KICKS 105.5 and i95 Rock (the station, not the road), the Harvest Jam will feature plenty of live music, as well as noms from some great local restaurants, a pumpkin patch for photos and selfies, vendors to shop from, plus some great beer options too. SO many entrants, thank you all for entering and sharing your passion for wings. Unfortunately, there can be only one winner and that is Diane Soli. Congrats Diane. If you’d still like to go, there are still a bunch of tickets left. Buy them before the ticket prices go up.

Ken Tuccio of Welcome to Connecticut Podcast held his first Beers at the Beach yesterday right at Calf Pasture Beach. It was a nice turnout and there were just enough people to make it feel busy, but not too many to create crazy long lines for beer and food. Speaking of beer, Aaren and Precious from Beer’d were there and brought some friends: Whisker’d Wit, 5.2%; 8 Days a Week, APA, 6%; House Divided, DIPA, 8.4%; and Get to the Choppa, Imperial Amber Ale, 9.1%. It seems that there was a consensus with everyone we talked with about two things:
1) 8 Days a Week was citrusy, bright, and the best of the night.
2) We just liked to say, GET TO THE CHOPPAAAAA!
Hobbit Juice DIPA, one of the legendary beers from Beer’d Brewing that people go crazy for.
When we broke the news about Beers at the Beach, the reaction from CT beer lovers was staggering. People were not only excited about a summer time series of beer fests centered around one local brewery that we don’t see too much of in Fairfield County, but also excited to spend some QT at Calf Pasture Beach while nomming on summer classics. And people flipped out, rightfully so, when we shared that Beer’d Brewing would be on hand for the first event on June 11, starting at 6:30.
Beer fest season is here, emhergard! And let’s kick it off along with American Craft Beer Week with a giveaway of two tix. Up for grabs is two tickets that will get you into the 2nd Annual Ninety 9 Bottles Craft Beer Festival at Oyster Shell Park in Norwalk. N9BCBF goes down on June 6 from 2-5 and you’ll definitely want to get your tix ($40) because last year’s event sold out. Buy online or purchase at either Ninety 9 Bottles in Norwalk or Westport, knowing that a portion of ticket sales goes to The Team Jesse Foundation that educates and supports families of fallen soldiers.

Either way, check out these great events that are on the horizon:

Sunday, May 3, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
We’ve heard that people eat tea and crumpets while they are in greenhouses. Or they wear khaki capris with those sick green visors that you might wear if you’re playing poker. So, what MiKro Beer Bar has planned at Michael’s Greenhouses in Cheshire will be a total game changer! Yes, they’ve teamed up with Caseus Food Truck, NoRa Cupcake Company, and lots of great craft breweries for the first ever Greenhouse Beer Festival.
BeerAdvocate has teamed up with Harpoon Brewery to bring the 8th Annual American Craft Beer Fest. It will be held on Friday, 5/29 and Saturday, 5/30 right at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. This event has quickly become the biggest craft beer festival up and down the East Coast and always sells out, just like other Beer Advocate festivals like Extreme Beer Fest that’s going down this weekend.
Tickets are affordable at $53.74 and that gets you unlimited samples during the session of your choice:
There are way too many beer related events going down this week, but that’s fine: you’ve been training your liver for days just like this!
1) This Wednesday, 12/10, starting at 4 pm, you can stop into Black Hog Brewing to purchase their second beer in their Disco Pig series. Their latest incarnation, Disco Pig 2, is a Brett Golden Sour! Brewing with Brett has become very popular lately, so you’ll definitely want to get yourself a bottle of this limited edition brew. And, if you so desire, you can enter into a raffle to win Bottle #1!
In a few weeks on December 13, we have a good hunch where you’ll be: at the inaugural BeerConn at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. The brouhaha is so brew-centric that there are actually two sessions: Session 1 goes from 12:30-4 and Session 2 goes from 5:30-9! Tix are just $35 per person (tax and fees extra), $45 the day of (if there are any left), and just $10 for those saintly designated drivers. You should be able to buy these tickets today, so keep checking their site!
And, as for the drinkable deets, here we go:
