This could be you, here. Stick with us and we’ll tell you how to win two tix!

Harbor Brew Fest 2015 is this Saturday, October 17, at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard and to say we’re excited would be a crazy understatement. It’s one of our favorite beer fests in the state and always surprises us how it seems to get better each year.

Well, what makes it so great?

1) The Brewer’s Special experience actually makes you feel like a VIP. You get in an hour early (12-5) and even get access to the Brewer’s Beer Garden, plus your own VIP Tasting Glass. Those tix are $60 each and very worth it.

Some of CT's best breweries will be on hand!

3) Food trucks. Yeah, plenty of ’em this year: The Meat Truck, Poutine Gourmet, Chompers, Munchies, Melt Mobile, Lobstercraft, and Taco Pacifico.

In depth look at that oozy gooey goodness of the sandwich. Divine.

Big Brew NY Beer Fest Returns w/ over 250 Beers + Our Readers Get $10 Off!

Big Brew NY 2013 Collage

Now in its third year in White Plains, the Big Brew NY Beer Festival is returning on February 7 to the Westchester County Center. When we first wrote about the festival on December 29, 2012, they were just getting started and expanding from bi-annual beer fests in NJ. Ever the veracious beer drinkers, we went and had a great time. There were an amazing amount of breweries there and people there, too, but it never seemed too crowded and the lines were never too long because the breweries were spread out nicely. And, yes, the VIP experience was well worth it with super-rare beers being poured out along with an exclusive buffet and entrance into the fest an hour early.

Well people, this awesome beer fest is back to help warm up your winter blues and will have over 250 different craft brews including a special all-cask VIP session! A total of 20 casks provided by Craftsman Ale House include Black Hog from Oxford, and other local breweries like Captain Lawrence, Great South Bay, Greenport Harbor, Kelso, Peekskill. For the full list (and all the beer that you’ll drink) go down to the bottom of our post.

Collage of Beer Festivals

Beer festivals=brewvana

After we published our critical review of the 4b Festival (Bacon, BBQ, Beer, and Bourbon) in New Haven, we got a tweet from the CT Beer Trail.  They said, “Dan & Kristien, good opportunity to shift focus to the positive & discuss what makes a beer fest a great one.”  We thought about it and really took that to heart, so we decided we were up for that challenge, and now here we are on 4/7, National Beer Day!

So, may we present you with a guide to what makes beer fests great, along with examples at the end.  If you have any other ideas, examples, or even disagree, please comment below with your thoughts.

Get an Exclusive Deal on Biergarten on the Green in Westport

15 Oct

We’ll just cut to the chase here, no flowery language, no extended metaphors, no crazy stories:  Bob LeRose of Bobby Q’s and Bar Q is one of our most favoriterest people in the world! When Dan couldn’t finish the Pitmaster Platter, he offered to give him a shirt.  He has allowed us to be judges at Blues, Views, & BBQ for two years in a row.  And, frankly folks, he’s a class act.  So, when we found out that he was the brains and brawn behind Biergarten on the Green on 10/27 from 1-4, one of the events of the Downtown Westport Foodie Fest, we knew that we had to help spread the word.

You’ll get an oh so cute tasting mug, a fancy box lunch filled with sausage, pretzels, and other German goodies, and lots of beer to taste.  All of this for $35 online or $40 the day of the event.  But, we’ve got a special deal for you from our friends at BEVBUCKS (see our intro to them)You’ll pay just $27.50 when you purchase your ticket here.  Quite a nice deal, huh?
